The LEGO DUPLO 10874 Steam Train toy is now even easier for your toddler to control and interact with in multiple ways. Review: Perfect first power train set for kids!! - This is the number 1 thing my train crazy son wanted Santa to bring him for Christmas this year and it didn't disappoint! It's very cute, easy to use and easy to assemble. It works great with the track tiles that are fun to use to make it do certain things when it passes over them like stop to fuel up, whistle, go in reverse etc. It works great with the previous DUPLO train set he got last year, but has so many more features like push to go and control with the optional app! The app is way fun because it opens up so many more possibilities for play and sounds and imagination! It's very simple and intuitive to use and took seconds to pair the train to the app. If I had to pick a top toy that I would recommend for young kids that would literally please them all regardless of gender or interests, it would be this train! SO cute, very well made and thought out and hours of fun! You'll definitely want to buy some more track though to make a bigger layout. We have the inclines which really adds a lot of fun. Also, we figured out that you can use regular DUPLO blocks which stick on the underside of the track to make an elevated train which is VERY fun for the kiddos! See pics. These LEGO DUPLO trains are serious the best and they've really stepped their game up with the new features and functionality of this one in particular! I can't recommend it enough! Worth every penny! And yes, I paid full price for it. Er, Santa did. :)
Review: Awesome toy for kids of all ages! - This is probably the best toy we’ve ever purchased. It was so easy to put together and it really seems indestructible. My two year old is obsessed with trains, so we decided to get a train for the tree this year. After seeing this we decided this would be perfect for both the tree and the rest of the year. We also purchased some extra track. It was so easy to connect to my iPad and my son loves playing with the app. But his favorite thing to do is to put the action tiles on the tracks. He figured it out so fast! There are all kinds of cool little features too like being able to change the color of the light on the front with the app. We as a family have a great time playing with this and it seems like it’s going to hold up to my sons rough play, too. All around it’s awesome!

**Q: Is this set compatible with the duplo train from 30 years ago?**
A: Hi there!

Our DUPLO® train cars have always been made to hook together in the same way, so you can connect this to an older train. The only thing to keep in mind is that some of our older trains (from before we made DUPLO track) have wider wheels, which won't be compatible with every type of track piece. They're a bit too wide for crossings and other similar tracks.

This is probably the best toy we’ve ever purchased. It was so easy to put together and it really seems indestructible. My two year old is obsessed with trains, so we decided to get a train for the tree this year. After seeing this we decided this would be perfect for both the tree and the rest of the year.
