Loving this thing. Recently gifted a Gaggia Classic Evo Pro and I was using my old Barataza Encore, but I pretty much only had 2 settings to work off. After trying to make it work decided I needed a grinder with more clicks to dial in shots. This grinder is very easy to dial in and has enough precision for my purposes. Mostly been working in the 50 to 60 range for dark and medium roasts. Grinding is fast, smooth and does not feel like a chore. Zero retention, 18g in 18g out.

I have been researching which grinder to get for about a year now and well... The X-Ultra has blown me away. I looked at several competitors and even other 1Zpresso products including the J-Ultra K-Ultra and ZP6 but time and time again the X-Ultra came out ahead. If only by the slimiest of margins. I mainly wanted an espresso grinder but I also dabble in other brewing methods so having a grinder that can do it all would be great. Though you know what they say, Jack of all Trades, Master of None. And sure, maybe it's not the best in each category but for me the results have been spectacular. Build Quality: ★★★★★ Mostly metal with a wooden handle and a plastic disk to prevent beans from popping out while grinding. Feels heavy and solid in the hands. Nothing rattles or feels loose. Dial, gears, and magnetic catch cup all feel smooth and secure. Ease of use: ★★★★★ Very easy to dial in your grind with the grind selector ring right at the top. Does not shift while using even if you accidentally grip it. Depending in the roast the grinder felt smooth and ripped through some medium and darker roasts with very little effort. For light roast you may want to grind larger first and then run it through again at you desired grind size if you find it too difficult. Results: ★★★★★ Blown away with the results. Did some blind taste test with a few other borrowed grinders testing espresso, Moka, Aeropress, and pour-over. And for me the X-Ultra won three out of the four categories. With the ZP6 just edging out the X-Ultra in pour-over with a slightly brighter and cleaner cup. I was genuinely surprised the J and K Ultras did not beat the X. I'm no professional so who knows but I'm glad to save some money on their cheaper model. Cleaning: ★★★★ This is the only category to not get 5 stars simply because the black powder coating is a bit of a dust magnet. It's so rough that is picks up skin particles just by using it. Though this is a very minor complaint and they easily wipe off with a damp towel. Other than that, disassembly is easy making cleanup and maintenance very painless. Durability: TBT but given most of the review say the only fail point seems to be the handle, I'd say as long as you treat it with care and check the handle for any cracks, this should easily last decades.

One of my best purchases. Use every day ! Only gripe is because I have big hands sometimes while grinding I accidentally disconnect the catching cup for the coffee grinds. But the premium version of this grinder has no such issue… still well worth saving the cash and wonderful product.
