Strips are nowhere near as good but one gets what one pays for. If you’re just throwing up a little pool for a summer heat wave, this probably is not your kit. If you are serious about having a pool that will be up for the entire season or longer, this will be sufficient. If you’re in ground it’s even more important to have this information about your water balance. This kit is easy to use and very accurate. It has enough chemicals for many measurements for a season. I have in later years found I do not run out of test chems in a season due to knowing how my pool acts from the elements. Granted in my case I have a very consistent bather load (no kids, just me and my wife) so there are no wild swings in balance other than weather. Beginners advanced enough to consider cyanuric acid levels and their affects (alkalinity), and certainly in-grounders with tile grout, will appreciate this kit, tho beginners may find themselves testing CA more frequently in their first seasons until they discover a routine and chlorine type (di or tri) that delivers satisfactory results without running out of chems for the CA test, leading to the need for more of that chemical component. Don’t let that stop you from getting this kit!
