HP Victus 16 Gaming Laptop S1023dx
I recently purchased this HP Victus 16 (model S1023dx), it is equipped with the AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS CPU and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, and I must say, it has exceeded my expectations in several ways.Positives:• Performance - The combination of the Ryzen 7 8845HS & RTX 4070 processor delivers outstanding performance.• Display - The 16.1-inch Full HD IPS display with a 144Hz refresh rate is a treat, the visuals are crisp, and the high refresh rate makes for a buttery-smooth gaming experience. The overall picture/color quality is impressive!• Design and Build – sleek and sturdy design. It's relatively lightweight for a gaming laptop. I really like how slim and thin this is especially when I compare it with my Old Alienware R15. The keyboard is average, but I really liked the large numeric keypad.• Cooling - efficient cooling system, I keep on monitoring its temperature while idle, light usage or while gaming from the OMEN gaming hub and I can say that the laptop remains relatively cool.• Connectivity - offers a decent range of ports, including USB-C and HDMI.• iGPU – the CPU has an internal GPU, which was performing very very good even on gameing. I was happy that this laptop has it, as it will switch to iGPU during light usage (which saves battery) and switch to the discrete GPU during intensive usage or gaming.• 8GB GPU VRam which is decent.• Decent speaker quality.• It comes with a free cooling pad, which I did not use as it feels really cheap and poorly built – but its free so I will not complain.• Value for Money - I paid AED 3,700 which was the cheapest RTX4070 laptop on Amazon at the time of my purchase. And considering its performance and features, the HP Victus 16 offers excellent value for money.Negatives:• Noise from the Fan – the fan was terribly loud during gaming. It keeps the laptop cool, but I did not expect it to be so loud. I was able to control the fan speed/noise though through the gaming Hub.• The storage is replaceable; however, it is only one slot which is a deal breaker for me.• No HDMI cable included - I’m not sure if this is standard nowadays.• Most of the ports are on the right side. I prefer it to be at the back since my mouse will be on the right side.• The Omen gaming hub is very buggy. Conclusion: Overall, the HP Victus 16 with the RTX 4070 GPU is a fantastic gaming laptop that delivers high performance, great visuals, and solid but slim build quality. A high two thumbs up for me!
