The pin couldn’t be removed until I used small wire cutters to remove the bump, which slightly damaged the underside of the band. I could then use the new band with my old pins. The damage isn’t significant or visible, so I’m good to go. Maybe I don’t properly understand how the band width is measured. Perhaps it’s the extended length of the pin rather than the opening that accepts the band.
