Some wonderful titles elevate the whole cart!
First off, it should be obvious to any Evercade fan that each of the collections is a mixed bag. It's understandable, as any distributor would want to include a variety of games so that there's something for everybody. Therefore I will highlight a few of the excellent titles in Megacat Collection 1. The star of the show is Tanzer, a hack 'n slash action platformer originally made for the Sega Genesis. It will certainly challenge you, and the save state function is necessary considering your character has only one life (but with three hits). Multi-dude and Super Painter are platforming titles which are easy to jump right into with quick learning curve. Little Medusa scratches that "Adventures of Lolo" itch from the old days of NES. The last title I want to highlight is Old Towers, which is a spectacular puzzle game, similar to nothing else I've played before. As for the rest, I haven't spent much time with them, some aren't that interesting and some just aren't my style; but I don't have any major complaints with them. The titles I have mentioned specifically make this cart a five-star product, and well worth the price (the physical Genesis port of Tanzer alone goes for $40!) I would posit that no matter what style of retro games you enjoy, there will be a handful on here that you'll love.

Slightly unpolished modern retro games with a sense of humor
First off, this collection is an amazing deal. Go look what digital copies of these titles cost if you buy them a la carte. Evercade’s cheap standard cartidge cost makes this a real steal. Of course, the monetary considerations only matter if the games are worth buying in the first place. Thankfully, this is an extremely varied collection of fun games that will entertain you for hours. They all have a few rough spots, and many favor breadth of features over polish. That’s okay with me, but some people might notice it more. Let’s start with the most substantial titles. Coffee Crisis is a coffee-flavored takeoff on Streets of Rage, and while it doesn’t reach the heights of that storied franchise, it’s a great time and hilarious. Pittsburghers will get a real kick out of the real life locations pixelized into the game. Tanzer is an amazing run and gun title and the obvious standout of this collection. I’m terrible at this genre, but I spend enough time with it to feel that this one is a real keeper. Creepy Brawlers is a horror-themed takeoff on Punch Out! that more than earns its keep on this compilation. Litte Medusa is a great combination of the HAL Lolo series and the underrated Chew Man Fu with lots of content. Old Towers is a clever puzzler with gorgeous graphics. It can get pretty frustrating, especially given the life limit! Thank goodness for save states. Almost a Hero is a Technos homage. If you’re after Technos games, though, the Technos cart is really where it’s at, but this one is a fun little take. Multidude is a fiddly but very enjoyable puzzler, where you use multiple robot types to get out of some very hairy mazes. The less substantial games still have a lot going for them. Super Painter is a nifty little Donkey Kong-esque game. It’s not too meaty, but it’s a nice diversion. Log Jammers seems like it would be amazing for two human players, but playing against the CPU just isn’t very fun. Maybe I’m bitter because I kee losing horribly. I look forward to a future two-player Evercade console to play this the right way. Justice Duel takes Joust as a jumping off point and then turns it into a weird, unbalanced shooter. While the inclusion of weird takes on US historical figures is amusing (except for the fictionalized Robert E Lee, who I don’t want to see anywhere), I found myself enjoying this the least. As a Joust fanatic, I expected it would be my favorite. As you can see, this cart is full of content, and most of it is really great. This is one of the standout carts for the Evercade so far, and is a definite must-own for those who like some humor in their gaming.

Great Collection
This is my favorite Evercade collection. The games here are all fun, look great, and unique in that I’ve never played any of them before. This is one collection I think every Evercade owner should have. Five stars.

If you like puzzle platformers as much as I do, you'll love both these collections.

Waste of Money
Bad. I'll probably never even put this in my console again, now that I tested the games. It leaves me no desire to return to it.

A fairly solid collection of Indie homebrew games
Pros: - Tanzer is the strongest game of the collection. - Little Medusa, Multidude, Old Towers and Super Painter are pretty solid Action-Puzzle games. Cons: - Half of these games feel like worse versions of the original retro games they were inspired by, namely: Almost Hero, Coffee Crisis, Creepy Brawlers, Justice Duel and Log Jammers. Overall: Tanzer would be the main reason to pick this up with some nice puzzle games thrown in the mix. Just dont go in expecting the rest of the games to hold up to their classic games counterpart.

Great cart, underrated titles
Lotta people recognise Tanzer for the masterpiece that it is (and it definitely IS the top game the cart), BUT Almost Hero, Old Towers, Super Painter and Multidude are great modern retro games that are particularly suited to Super Pocket! Recommend this cart and enjoying it alot more than I thought I would.
