Review: These worked well for a short while - These worked well for a short while. It was hard to get them not to transfer too much water and to get them to do the right amount. Still messing around with the elevation. I think I need to play with these until I can get them working right then I'll give another update. As for now Ill give it three stars.

Almost killed my plants with these
These only seem to work if you refill the tubes daily. I've tried lots of setups, with the water source higher or lower. All of the tubes eventually dry out and stop working while connected to water containers. I went on a week vacation, and was glad I came back early. My plants almost died from lack of water.

Terrific...IF you figure out how to set it up
It works excellently if you set it up right. No instructions came with it at all but the ones on Amazon are OK. I used a long necked vase as the water reservoir so that the top of the water level would be higher than the bottom of the base material (part that goes into the soil); this is just basic plumbing. The base material is permeable; it does not begin to allow water through until it has absorbed enough water - so it must soak in a bowl of water until it is no longer dry. As for the cap and tube, I used a shallow bowl of water to submerge the cap and tube. Air bubbles in the line will stop the flow of water. So with the cap upside down and I just kept wiggling it around until all the little air bubbles came out. Then I stuck the open end of the tube all the way into the vase of water, filled the plastic part of the base with water, snapped on the cap and put the end of the base just a bit into the soil of the plant. I checked the water level in the vase an hour later and it was lower, and when I checked the plant it was no longer dry. Now it is just a matter of figuring out how far into the soil to place the device to control the flow.

Arrived with no instructions or guidelines
This product might be useful if only it had come with instructions. It didn't.

Once you figure the secret they work great!
First get some metal clips to weight the tiny ends down. Submerse all of them in a tub of water. You can even take the caps off of the ceramic, just do it under water. Once the air is completely purged, just plant them. They work. Do not place the Water ABOVE the ceramic piece, it will simply drain very quickly slightly below and it feeds just enough water.

Plant Savior! Great product!
I started panicking weeks before my 2-week vacation. I had my bonsai and succelents die on me before. This is an affordable solution vs the other โauthenticโ product as long as you follow directions. I had many empty, clear containers to use as water reservoir. It has more porosity it seems than I anticipated, so for slow drop plants, do experiment the correct reservoir height. Spend the time it only takes a few minutes. Came back from my vacation with great results - and I have been using ever since. Tip: if you plant food spikes, try to place them around 1-2 inches away from ceramic plug. See my photos, I love these products!

Works As Stated
It works as advertised. I had to relocate a spike away from a plant due to overwatering. It is very effective. The grommit at the end of the tube tends to fall off and the ceramic weight can get lost. Use the enclosed rubberbands that hold the tubes for shipping as an end piece to hold the ceramic piece in place. It also allows for multiple spikes to be used with a single water source.
