Press the side with the 1/2" pad pushing the pointed guide into the hole. With your thumb holding the pad firmly in place, use your other thumb to roll the guide (pointy end) in a circular motion while pressing with your other thumb. This works to eventually bring the lip of the channel through the hole without tearing the rubber. The rubber is strong but not made of carbon fiber, OK? Take your time, be gentle, they roll into a snug fit, positioned within the track fairly quick. Once the metal is seated evenly within the track (gap between the pad and pointy end), I trimmed a portion of the dart coming through the hole for my application.These were installed on a floating bracket to create a small amount of scratch-free friction for a one-person, hands-free install of a tie-down system I put together for a Jeep JK (I know....what is she talking about??).The bracket (I used four Simpson Strong Ties) with rubber pads installed, slides just beneath the edge of the hardtop, in the gap formed between the metal body of the Jeep and the fiberglass overhanging lip created by the hardtop as it sets on the shoulder of the JK's body. The pads cause the brackets to stay in put as other brackets are installed.I used metal 'S' hooks with one end pinched to keep them installed on the brackets as anchor points. With pre-cut lengths of cordelette and a few trucker knots to secure, this system combined with the Jeep's ridged hardtop creates a nice landing for the transport of various materials to and from job sites or just getting stuff home from a shopping trip.I saved a plastic storage case from an old drill I once had; this works nicely to store the brackets and cord behind my seat.Happy Trails! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rubber bumpers keep the doors from scrathing the paint. *by A***C on April 6, 2025* Perfect fit for Bilco basement doors. The best way to install theses rubbers is to place them in the holes but then open the doors all the way to push them into place.
