Until I found and sorted the entry point into the drainage system other rats could get into the drain but none of them could get past the rat blocker. With its two flaps it is impassable. Water and excrement easily pass through when there is sufficient water flowing. If solid waste is sitting in the blocker the spikey, serrated edge of the flaps would impede anything trying to push past as the flap would close as it was pushed. I am glad and relieved I bought this product as it solved what would have been a difficult problem. Obviously, insert the rat blocker in the pipe with the flaps opening in the downward flow direction.
