Great Start to Training Path
Pros: Overview is comprehensive, study material is correct for this exam, book is an easy ready, structured well on the CompTIA objectives.Cons: Typos, lack of complete discipline coverage, conflicting data compared to other study materialsThis book was a great resource to either learn the requirements of the CompTIA objectives or to brush up on disciples you haven’t used in your day-to-day taskings. I’ve read the one-star reviews on this book and it sounds a bit like sour grapes. I have taken and passed the CY0-401 and now I have passed the CY0-501 and using one source of study material is neglecting the responsibilities of test taking. I used this book in tandem with the paid version of the Pocket Prep app and the CompTIA app. All 1 Star reviews are a bit silly and they do not reflect the true usefulness of this book. Good luck testing!

Good study guide
This is a good study guide for the SY0-501. I used this book and ran through the included online test bank and I can say that the questions in the test bank are very similar to the actual exam. My only gripe about it is that the test bank does not include performance based exercises that you will find on the actual CompTIA exam. However, all of the concepts you will need are covered in this book. I used a combination of this book and the Professor Messer videos on YouTube to pass the exam on the first try.

Not sure why its Deluxe
I bought this on the strength of the reviews but I'm not sure I should have spent the extra money.Apart from it being a hardback I don't see what you get in this book that justifies the price. This is for the SY0-501 exam. I have a book for the SY0-301 exam by Glen E Clarke, published by McGraw Hill which seems much more technical. Sadly Mr Clarke hadn't got around to updating his book when I needed a study guide. There's a lot of information but not much depth and very few hands on exercises. This might be indicative of the latest exam. To be fair the Professor Messer videos aren't much more detailed so perhaps this is the necessary level.Time will tell but I won't be relying on this as my sole source of information.

Useless
I purchased this the first month it was released. Read it cover to cover and failed in the exam. There were practical questions in the exam that this "Guide" didnt have

Good book, broad online test bank
on the last page of the book there is a detailed description about gaining access to the testbank and the ebook version. These will help me with my certification!

Teaches you more than is needed for the exam and in plain English
This is one of those guides that actually teaches you the subject rather than being a crammer for the exam.At just over 450 pages, there is a lot of information for the exam and you should also know the subject too. The online material, flash cards and mock exams, are very good, simple to use and let you focus on the whole subject or just the last bit you have studied. Each section of the book tells you what you are going to learn, explains the jargon, covers the subject in plain English and then tests you. Even if the subject is not going to be tested in the exam it still gets explained to you. There is a great section on cryptography. most exams will say, just remember the names and which group they fall into. This guide gives you some detail on how the algorithms actually work. You come away from the book with some understanding of the how but also the why and the who and when for the historical context.I found the book easy to read and enjoyed the explanations. It covers much more than you need for the exam but this is often the stuff that is missed and is the very same stuff that takes it from a dry subject to an interesting subject.

Perfect
Clearly written and with a layout that is both logic and easy to read and follow. It covers all subjects relevant to learning how to develop and improve security and the mix of clear information and practice exercises is in my mind the only way to study and learn for exams and if you're intending on taking the test, you HAVE to get this. The book covers:Chapter 1: Managing RiskChapter 2: Designing and Diagnosing NetworksChapter 3: Understanding Devices and InfrastructureChapter 4: Identity and Access ManagementChapter 5: Wireless Network ThreatsChapter 6: Securing the CloudChapter 7: Data and Privacy Security PracticesChapter 8: CryptographyChapter 9: Threats, Attacks, and VulnerabilitiesChapter 10: Social Engineering and other FoesChapter 11: Security AdministrationChapter 12: Disaster Recovery and Incident ResponseThere are tips for taking the exam as wellAll in all a great book to help get through the exam
