Amazon tablet Fire hd8
Great Budget Tablet for Everyday Use — Especially for Amazon UsersI've been using the Fire HD 8 (2022) for a few weeks now, and for the price, it's a solid little tablet that gets the job done.Pros:Affordable & Durable: For under $100 (and often on sale), it's hard to beat. The build feels sturdy, yet it's light and easy to carry around.Battery Life: Easily lasts 12+ hours with casual use. Great for streaming or reading without constantly reaching for the charger.Amazon Integration: If you use Kindle, Prime Video, Audible, or Alexa, this tablet makes it all super convenient.Speakers: Surprisingly good stereo sound with Dolby Atmos for watching videos.Cons:Limited Apps: Since it doesn't have the Google Play Store, you're stuck with the Amazon Appstore. Some popular apps (like YouTube or Gmail) aren't natively available, although workarounds exist.Performance: It's fine for browsing, reading, or streaming, but don't expect it to handle heavy multitasking or gaming.Screen: The 8" HD screen is okay—not super sharp, but good enough for casual use.Overall, it's a great choice for kids, travel, or anyone who needs a cheap tablet for streaming, reading, or light web browsing. Just know what you're getting: it’s not a high-end tablet, but for the money, it’s a great value—especially if you're already in the Amazon ecosystem.Would definitely recommend for casual.

Great budget tablet for entertainment vs productivity
Great 2nd tablet for the kitchen once Play Store added, best advised to purchase 64GB storage and 4GB memory to ensure adequate performancePerfect time to purchase is during prime sales periods when they are a better alternative to generic Android tablets also aimed as budget devices as you can update these every few years during sales and trade ins when models updated.Very much best suited for internet and entertainment use vs productivity and especially for Prime subscribers if you lack the ability to add Play Store to widen the apps you can use.Again, like most generic budget tablets - not aimed at productivity and best to aim for 64GB/4GB variant to ensure good performance and ability to load apps as apps on an SD card will slow the entire device on and increasingly apps use more and more storage.

Ideal as a basic tablet. Limited accessibility to apps though.
I previously owned an earlier version of the Fire 8 tablet, which had slowed down, was very well worn and really needed replacing. I only use it for browsing, reading and a bit of online shopping, so I don't need anything other than a very basic tablet, which this is but for my needs it's ideal, especially as I used trade in option with a limited time offer which made the cost only £35. (not sure I would want to pay the full price as the Amazon operating system has definite limitations on app availability unless you're comfortable sideloading Google Play). It's not lightening fast, for the price I wouldn't expect it to be-but it's absolutely fine for browsing etc. and definitely better than my previous tablet. It wouldn't be suitable for someone who wants something to multi task or play games, but for the price I paid, I don't think there's anything comparable. It's lightweight and the size makes it easy to hold and stick in a bag or pocket.Be aware that if you want it for things like online banking, for example, you won't find the necessary apps in Amazon's own app store, so check before buying if particular apps are necessary to you.

Easy to set up and buy books to read. Compact size makes it easy to carry around. Adverts not that intrusive.

Great little tablet
I bought this on a whim as the Prime day price was hard to ignore. It will replace a clunky old Samsung which was getting slower by the day. The Fire tab is so much better in every possible way, simple and quick to set up and does everything I want from a tab for next to no money. Absolutely brilliant in my honest opinion though I haven’t ( and won’t) use it for streaming or gaming but for browsing etc I can’t fault it.

Good for travelling
I bought this tablet to use when travelling. I do not drive and portability is essential. It is smaller and lighter than my iPad, and of course considerably cheaper than a mini ipad. The advantages are that I can do all the essential things I want whilst away - read books on kindle and some mags, download from BBC Sounds, use the internet and access my email. The main disadvantage I have found so far is that the range of apps available is much more limited and the ones I use a lot when travelling, such as National Rail, Transport for London etc were not available and nor was my Guardian subscription. Obviously all are accessible by internet if there is a signal (airport waiting lounges!). I am not massively tech savvy and I found it very easy to get started and to navigate. I am very happy with the purchase and it will be part of my travel kit in future. The picture quality for my use is good and I connected easily to my Bluetooth headphones.
