CamstarGW Security 4K 8MP Outdoor/Indoor PoE IP Microphone 2.8mm Wide Angle Lens Bullet Security Camera, NDAA & TAA Compliant (GW68-8637MIC)

This is now one of my better outdoor security cameras, image quality wise. I refuse to spend a great deal of money on high-end cameras, only to gain nominal picture quality, especially as I only run a closed circuit, hard-wired system. I'm a retired electronics engineer (by training) and military IT security specialist (by trade) and therefore, I know all too well, how easily you can hack into wifi security systems if you have the right software and hardware to do so, as a hacker. Anyhow, regarding this camera though, the image quality is fantastic both in daylight and night time. The PoE is obviously, super easy to setup, the most complex part is merely getting the cable run to the devices mounting location, from your video network splitter/card, whether you run it from a PC or a DVR. Worth the effort in my opinion, unless you like federal agencies and/or nerds with the know-how to see everything you see, without your knowledge but again, I digress. I cannot yet speak to the longevity of this camera, so I will update this review accordingly if it ever fails ore becomes problematic. Until then, I gladly recommend it.

I thought that upgrading from 1080p would not be that much of a difference, but I was totally wrong.This guy is absolutely clear - like looking with your own eyes.Easy set up, easy connection with blue iris software and all other home automation systems. I love that.Some of the setup options are not obvious, but they work great and they are easy to adjust.Great product, majorly clear pictures, and a combination of mainstreams and substreams give you more options.Love this!

The image quality, especially in the daytime, is fantastic. Razor sharp 4k. Night time image quality is decent, decent area lighting helps. Had no problem connecting to my NVR OR my PC. The lens is nice, but wide angle, so...while it's a 4k camera, don't expect to be able to read license plates driving by or make out faces 100 feet from the camera, it just isn't happening. You'll only be able to ID people that get close enough. A physical zoom would help, as the lens and sensor resolution could support a higher zoom level. But there is no, so just remember, this is best placed in an area where a wide angle lens is advantageous. Also nice that there's a 2 year warranty, and the camera is made in Taiwan, as opposed to China. Big plus there. 5 stars, recommended where you need a wide angle view.
