The perfect simple stool
High nostalgia value (think high school science class) plus simple, very functional, and reasonably comfortable. I use it at both a standup computer workstation when I don't want to stand, as well as at a workbench. I might end up buying another. As others have noted, there is one annoying feature. The plastic end caps on the fixed legs don't come off easily. And off they must come, if you want to install the adjustable leg extensions.TIP: Use a mallet and wooden dowel (or similar wooden object) to gently knock off those plastic end caps without damaging the caps or marring the legs. Then put the four caps in one of the little plastic bags that the leg extensions are packed in, tape the bag shut, and tie the bag underneath the stool seat with some twine. That way all the parts will be there if you ever want to remove the leg extensions or sell the stool in the future.

Good quality chair!
This is a good quality, sturdy chair at a reasonable price. It was well packaged, arrived undamaged and was easy to assemble.

Rubber feet demystified?
Appears to be a fairly well made stool- only time will tell when it comes to durability. There appears to be some confusion over the rubber feet- hopefully this will help. As the stool is shipped, it is a regular non-adjustable stool with rubber feet installed, although the leg sides are drilled for the extension screws. The leg extensions are packed separately with screws and an Allen wrench. To use the extensions, the rubber feet must be removed so that the extensions may be inserted in the hollow legs. If the extensions are to be used, the rubber feet will no longer be needed- the extension legs have their own metal feet. The rubber feet are snug and can be a challenge to remove- here's my suggestion: Support the stool in such a way that the rubber feet are not resting on the floor, etc. Laying the stool on a table or sawhorses would work. Place a small block of wood on the stool leg against the top edge of the rubber foot and tap gently with a hammer on the block. The foot should come right off, with no damage to either the stool or foot.

Good stool!
Love the stool! I am a teacher and raising it all the way is the perfect height to sit on and see students while they are working. Very sturdy. As you've already read, the gray endcaps were super tight and couldn't be easily removed. Since I don't ever plan on lowering the stool, it didn't matter to me if they got damaged. We used a wine corkscrew and all four were removed within a minute. I presume if you bought this model it's because you want to adjust height so probably wouldn't use gray endcaps again. Wine corkscrew for the win!

Wrong Stool - RIGHT Customer Service!
I ordered the adjustable height stool. What I got was a fixed height stool (no holes in the fixed legs to attach the moveable ones) and some adjustable legs and screws. Just no holes. Called National's customer service, sent them a photo, and they shipped me a new stool -- this one with holes! The original stool had the right part number on it's sticker. They asked me to send them the lot number so they could sort it out. An unfortunate accident, but I'm quite happy with how they handled it! The stool is otherwise great!

Angled legs are terrible
Assembly on this could have been so much easier. First the legs are angled so we are constantly running into them and breaking our toes. Legs could have been made in a straight angle- then stool would be perfect. Bought these awhile ago so don’t remember assembly exactly except it was hard and I am mechanically inclined. Had to take a piece off the leg and it took two of us- one had to hold the stool and the other to pry end cap off. The legs could have been shipped in the stool with the screw in separate pouch and then all you had to do was adjust it to your height desired and attach screw. Otherwise love the fact that I can get great height out of this stool.
