NAILING THE BAR (HOW TO WRITE ESSAY ANSWERS FOR LAW SCHOOL AND BAR EXAMS) Perfect Paperback – January 1, 2011

This book was what got me over the finish line with the bar exam when I realized that Themis could only help me so much with my essays.

In my opinion the best essay book I bought. It's problem is that is says California on the front, but trust me its good for any state. This because the 6 major MBE subjects can show up on essays and can generally be treated the same through common law analysis, Civil Pro will be under the FRCP, and UCC is going to be tested generally the same if it comes up on essay. (plus now lots of states going to uniform Bar exam). Yes the law changes but conceptually this aid gave me a way to prepare and approach the essay portion like no other study aid. I've read many other essay study aids which were only minimally helpful for preparation. This book really helped with understanding how to write better analysis and not be conclusory. There are essay templates for every subject that also really help. It explains why example answers released by the Bar are too long, and who ever wrote the example answer for Question X may very well have failed the exam because they spent to much time on one question.You can also get this book by googling "nailing the bar" and it takes you to a publishing website where it can be ordered. I looked there because I thought this book might be in short supply and I could resell mine on Amazon for $800.00 because its that valuable. But yes, you can get it there too (though i never tried it - as I bought mine on amazon with someone's note markings in it). This book is dated from 2008 but I found that didn't matter much, the principles, techniques and explanations still hold true, (you know the current law/rules). The book itself said you can use other nailing the bar study aids to supplement, but "that it is not necessary as this book has all that you need". I agree the other supplements are not necessary, this one book covers it all. I think the author did a real service that our other bar prep and law profs failed to do.Considering essays are near half your Bar exam score and its4 grand for Barbri (which has almost zero essay guidance) this is a good investment. I speculate that this aid hasn't been updated since 2008 or sold nationally, because this the guy is a millionaire sipping Pina Coladas somewhere, and doesn't care who finds it on amazon. So, to all Bar Takers this is the one. Period! The only essay book you need! Also if I read this in law school it probably would have really helped. I would recommend this book even it was published in 1978, the legal rules are not the point of this book, writing essays to pass the Bar is.So there. Buy now thank me later. I did my duty for this book. It deserves every kudos and hadn't even one review. Must be a secret among the top 5% and Law Review people or something. Buy and hold until they are out of print and then sell on amazon for one thousand bucks and take a vacation. Word is Bond. Good Luck to all....UPDATE: I originally wrote this before taking the Montana 2013 Bar exam, because I was so pleased that an essay study aid wasn't a bunch of B.S. telling me "dovetail" off of the issues..?!? Anyway not only was it the best essay writing guidance I've ever received, it actually worked. I passed the 2013 Montana bar. This book is IT. Good Luck.
