Nicely done.

This is a gem of a book for anyone interested in fashion history, particularly those doing research on 1920s clothing for theatre, film, writing projects, etc. The first two chapters introduce the period with a quick refresher course on 1920s American politics, culture, music, and literature into which this radical fashion shift comes. The book is filled with great visual sources as well as thorough and clear descriptions of fashion trends for both women and men including accessories. There is also a list of museums to visit for viewing 20s clothing, as well as a bibliography for further research. This is a must for any costume or fashion historian, or anyone specializing in the 1920s.

This is a pretty dry accounting of a fabulous, innovative period of clothing design. In many instances, a picture is shown, then the outfit in the drawing or photo is described.

No so good.

This is a gem of a book. It is well written and has wonderful images. It covers both women's and men's fashions. There is also a chapter on accessories, followed by a list of places to visit in person or via the Internet.

The fashions included in the book are often later than 1922 (the setting of THE GREAT GATSBY) but this is a nice place to start in terms of researching the period.

very thin and very few pictures. Very light in content

I got this to give as a gift. It is a good book, but the one I received had a mark on the cover which was a bit disappointing, but as it was by the cigarette smoke it sort of looked acceptable.
