What I thought were “near-limit” tyres still had plenty of legal tread left, so this paid for itself instantly. The gauge is easy to use and gives a clear digital reading in both mm and inches. Measurements seem consistent across all tyres, and it’s reassuring to have an actual number rather than relying on visual checks or the advice of a garage. The screen is clear and easy to read, even in low light. Build quality is decent for the price. It’s lightweight and feels a bit plasticky, but it does the job accurately enough for home checks. The zero/reset function works well, although it’s worth double-checking readings if you’re moving quickly between tyres.
