Good tool to add to your yard arsenal
Definitely a workout but it does its job. Assembly wasn't too horrible but it took me about 30 minutes. Its easy to clean and store. Once you add your sand to it, it should puncture mostly soft ground easily. It will hop around on soil that isn't wet enough. Seems pretty durable and good sized. I love the handles that are used to push around. They are rubber and padded. Just be prepared for a heavy workout. :)

Great for small yards
It works pretty well! The video for assembling it was better for how to attach the springs than the written instructions. Use a funnel to fill the holes with sand after lying it down at an angle.I used it on my lawn after it rained, and it made very good plugs. It was better than the manual aerator. It is ideal for small lawns or someone than wants to workout. It is a little hard to turn, but it can be done.

Better than expected!!
This manual core aerator works better than I expected. It really gets the job done quickly and well. It is well built and easy to put together. I don't think there is anything like it in the market. I'm very happy with it and highly recommend it.

Works Great
This aerator has been what I was looking for years. It does everything it's says it will do. My yard has areas of soft dirt and clay. It is able to aerate the whole lawn with no issue of not pulling plugs. I have roughly between 1/2 and 3/4 a acres of lawn and this does / will take some time to fully aerate. First pass took about 2 hours. But the good news is your not on the clock like you have with a rental.I did use this at my parents house who have a mix of sandy areas and clay. The sandy area it did great. The clay areas it did well too except the areas that were completely dry. If you have clay for soil like all core aerator you will need the soil moist before using.Assembly was fairly straight forward. Like others have said putting the sand in the wheels does take time but hopefully you only have to do it once. All in all I would definitely. Recommend this for anyone who looking for a core aerator but does not want to be on the clock for a rental and has a small to medium size lawn.

Affordable, effective alternative to renting a machine
I feel morally inclined to call out that this product has a very similar design to the AMICK Roll-Aerator, which is a product made by a gentleman out of California and sold in a direct-to-consumer model. However, rather than using upcycled brake rotors for wheels/weights, this aerator has you add sand to the wheels, which allows for 1) easier shipping, and 2) the ability to customize the weight needed to properly penetrate your soil. For simplicity of order and delivery, I was very excited to find this on Amazon. I put it together relatively easily, added some sand, and took it for a test drive. It yanked my hard clay plugs out like it was nothing. Needless to say, I'm excited to add soil amendments this spring and to continue to aerate semi-frequently to rehab my yard for the summer. This is a solid, cost-effective product for the intended purpose. To rent a plug aerator at a big box store costs $100-$200 for a few hours. You also don't have the hassle of having to go pick it up and return it within a tight window. If you are planning to rent an aerator, I'd suggest giving this a try first.Additionally, I polled my community and found my neighbors would be willing to pay me $100 to aerate their yards with this tool. You could literally start/upgrade a little landscaping business with this thing and get your money back easily. My kids are too young, but if I was back in my high school days, I would buy this and advertise this service in my community rather than doing any part-time minimum-wage work. Just food for thought.Great product. 10/10 would buy again.

Good but easily made better
This works well but has a major flaw that could be easily corrected for minimal cost. The amount of tines could be easily tripled and staggered to cover more area. The weight of the machine is actually heavy enough to use with out sand if your lawn is properly watered 24 hours beforehand so the soil is soft . This is an effective manual aerator but could be made better by recommendation above. It just takes more walking efffort to produce the amount of aeration needed to be effective. I now have an additional cardio workout .

Horrible biuld
Every part that is welded has a hole. It won't hold the sand

Awesome Product
I bought this product because of compacted clay in my backyard. It worked great even without the sand I was able to get plugs and break up the soil nicely. This is a life saver for my lawn. When I called the pros they could not get the machine in my back yard so I decided to do it myself. This pays for itself in when I use it 2 times maybe later this year.
