Schleich is worth the extra money. The details are terrific and quality good enough that an older child is very glad to have a Schleich. Plus, this one was quite reasonably priced. This guy is more of an Asian/Indian chameleon than the "North American chameleon" which is really an Anolis carolinensis (Green Anole) rather than a true iguana family chameleon. Even though this isn't the one we can find in the backyard or on forest walks, he was *well* received. It was hot when he arrived so he was brown. We bathed him in cool water and he turned this lovely blue-green. A big hit. Little guy spent the next several days in and out of the freezer doing his chameleon thing. We couldn't get him to warm up in our hands for a bit of time in the sun did it. He fits easily into the pocket of an 8-11 year old.

My 3-year-old collects Schleich animal figures and this chameleon is one of the more unique ones in the range because it changes colour in water. If you’re familiar with Schleich animals, this is one of the smaller sized figures, but the quality is still excellent. The detailing on the body and texture is really nicely done, which is what we’ve come to expect from Schleich toys. The colour-changing feature is what really makes this one stand out. My daughter especially loved taking it into the bath and watching it change colour in the warm water. It adds an extra element of fun compared to the standard animal figures.
