I originally bought these as hiking shoes. They're incredibly comfortable, sturdy, and they definitely stand up to the elements. I still wear them for hiking, but they're definitely a great everyday shoe. I work in education now, so I'm on my feet all day every day. I NEVER come home with sore feet.They're definitely not waterproof, so don't expect that, but I'd say they're somewhat water resistant. I've worn them in the snow and it takes a while for water to seep in. You will not be disappointed with these!4/12/18 - These boots are a daily wear over a year later and they’re still in near perfect condition. These are literally the best hikers I have ever owned!2/25/19 - Finally retired these shoes to camping-only. They’re still in great shape, but some of the seams are loosening and fraying.
