The Only Doo-Wop Collection You'll Ever Need

If you enjoy Doo-Wop or just want to get introduced this is a real decent CD. The music is all great and the sound recording is great. Well worth the investment.

My mother came of age in the fifties, so I was exposed to the music. And, of course, I heard it at other times as well. I always liked it (well, except when I was a teen; teens think all music but their own generation's is uncool! lol), but now that I'm in my upper 40's, and after seeing some PBS specials, I came to love and appreciate it so much more.It's really difficult to find fifties' compilations sung and performed by the original artists. One just has to look at Rhino's Doo Wop Box(es) to know this. They're only available through the Marketplace now, and people are charging high prices because they know people will buy; this music is incredible and so hard to find except as performed by mediocre singers and bands that sound cut rate.Well, this is a great collection! And these are done by the original artists. I know some are saying that they are not all done by them, but they are, I believe. It's just that the versions that were most popular are sometimes not the originals.I highly recommend this collection! Doo-Wop power! The most romantic music ever came out of this period, and the harmonies are amazing. You just don't see this anymore.

This excellent two disc collection will bring you back in time to a music genre that captivated pop music lovers and record buyers somewhere between Elvis and the British invasion. It was a then young American music style that had a life of its owns and many, not all, of the best Doo Wop classics of all time are on this collection. There was only one cut that I never heard and only one cut, in my opinion, not as good as the one most of us who remember this music enjoyed. Don't let either of these comments of mine stop you from purchasing this collection. In fact, again in my opinion, no Doo Wop collection is either perfect or complete but this one comes very, very close. There are far too many oustanding tracks for anyone desiring a Doo Wop collection not to purchase this item. Essentialy, there are two styles of Doo Wop - ballads and up beat. This collection has a great balance of both styles featuring outstanding representatives of each. Either way, if you already love Doo Wop or would like to get into it for the first time, I can only say, go for it!

Most of the Best of Doo-Wop with the exception of a couple of songs I do not remember from the Era.

This is a terrific selection of great doo-wop records, all original recordings by the original artists. They are all hits; all familiar; and not a single filler track among the 37 included on the 2 disks. My only criticism is that "Little Darlin'" is mistakenly listed as by the Diamonds, when, in fact, it is the earlier recording by The Gladiolas. I wonder if it was just an incorrect assumption by whoever prepared the material (The Diamonds had the bigger hit version) or if they included The Gladiolas' version in error.

What a fantastic couple of CDs!!! If you're wondering what doo-wop was all about, this is the CD to buy. If you're looking for something that doesn't feature a lot of filler on it like so many sets of doo-wop songs do, this is the CD to buy. CD one clocks in at 45+ minutes with CD 2 coming in at 47+ minutes. It wouldn't have bothered me if they had included a couple of more genuinely classic songs on there, but hey, I'm not complaining. Listening to these 2 CDs is pure enjoyment from the beginning to the end. Only one flaw and that is that "Little Darlin'" listed by the Diamonds most definitely isn't the Diamonds (who did it much better than the group which is represented).

Don't know if it's the last Doo-Wop CD you'll ever need but it will get you close. Great collection,good quality sound highly recommend.

I like this music, online ordering is great

Bought as a present for my wife as we heard something similar in the USA but for a ridiculous price. She liked quite a few of the tunes so it proved to be a nice Christmas present.

Music is very good and great to listen to.
