Good!
Amstel Lager sits in the “mainstream European pilsner” category—light, crisp, and easy-drinking, without aiming for strong bitterness or complex craft flavours. Here’s how it compares to a few similar widely available lagers: **Heineken vs Amstel** Both come from the same brewing group and are very similar in style. Heineken tends to taste a bit sharper and more “distinctively bitter,” with a slightly more pronounced hop character. Amstel is usually perceived as a touch smoother and milder, making it easier for people who want less bite. **Carlsberg vs Amstel** Carlsberg is a bit drier and has a slightly more metallic, crisp finish. Amstel feels softer and a bit rounder in flavour. Both are very sessionable, but Carlsberg leans slightly more toward a dry European pilsner profile. **Stella Artois vs Amstel** Stella Artois is stronger in flavour, with more bitterness and a slightly fuller body. Amstel is lighter and more straightforward. If Stella feels a bit “heavier,” Amstel is usually the easier-drinking alternative. **Budweiser (Budvar/Czech style) vs Amstel** Czech-style lagers like Budweiser Budvar are generally more malty and richer, with better depth and balance. Amstel is simpler, lighter, and less complex, designed more for easy refreshment than flavour layering. **Overall** Amstel sits in the middle of mainstream lagers: less bitter than Heineken, less dry than Carlsberg, and lighter than Stella Artois. It’s chosen more for smooth drinkability than strong character.

Refreshingly run of the mill lager
Got these to serve up over the winter break to cheapskate guests that pitch up with a 6 pack then tan all my good ales. Did the job, got them drunk and saved my ipa’s from being wasted. Got ripped in to a few my self and was pleasantly surprised, drinkable when super cold and strong enough to rescue a boring sporting event on the tv

what's not to like? Good value
As another purchaser said, it's beer! what's not to like? Good value, especially with the free delivery. Just a note though - Amstel appear to have changed the design of their cans. For a moment after opening the package I thought I had been sent the wrong item. Cans received are red not green, but on checking it is the exact same product, same ABV etc. .

A very Bland beer
Visiting the UK and bought ‘ knowing The Amstel of Old’. I’m afraid this offering is tasteless and very representative of Heineken breweries - Not good - utterly tasteless !! Amstel light ,as available in “the Middle East” was more satisfying - what a poor Beer , this Now is !!!
