Terrible quality
As others have stated, the quality is of major concern. It came scratched up and I was definitely concerned about using it. I sent it back right away. I had only bought it because it looks just like the one my wife and I had in Mexico. To make matters worse, I spent $41.29 or something like that to get it. and I recieved back only $22.95 due to haveing to pay a re-shelving fee and pay for return shipping. I did not see this in their listing when I initially bought it as it was not easy to find. I caution anyone about buying this torilladora and buying from MexGrocer in general.

Impressive!!
Purchased to make corn tortillas for a friend visiting from Mexico City. He was very impressed and wanted to know how I got an authentic press from Mexico. I told him 'on Amazon' and he was amazed. He said they made very authentic tortillas like he gets at home. Great product!! Thank you!!

It works ok
It is very heavy and I have an issue with my hands so I personally can't use it any more. It does work all right, but not as good as I had hoped. The tortillas come out thicker than I wanted and they are somewhat lopsided because of the way it squeezes from one side. But it is useable, we haven't broken it yet, like others have posted about.

Just like Grandma's
Reading other reviews, I was a little nervous. However, once I actually received the press and had a chance to use it, I was quite pleased.

What The Hell Is That Paint?
There's not much to say about a tortilla press. As long as it makes tortillas flat and round it's fine. However, I certainly wasn't impressed with the cheap aluminum looking paint globbed onto it. First thing I did was throw it in the fire to burn the dubious looking/smelling paint off, then spent an hour or so scrubbing the paint residue off before I could feel safe enough to wash it and use it. It did a fine job of makingx tortilla dough flat and round though

Cracked with first use.
So I got this as a gift for my husband, and he finally used it for the first time tonight. The product cracked at the hinges while he was attempting to press a tortilla. I do not recommend purchasing this.

Tortilla Press
This is a wonderful tortilladoro. Tortillas come out even and smooth. It is very impor tant not to place dough directly on the press. Use a heavy-duty plastic bag or other item that will prevent sticking. The silver-like finish is applied, I believe, to pre vent rust and will come off on your food. I sacrificed an old silicone baking sheet that works perfectly and will last forever.

Horrible paint job
When I first received this I was excited because it seemed to be very heavy duty. Yet, quickly I discovered that it was covered in a horrible paint that comes off really easily. I tried to scrub it off but it would have probably taken hours or days to get it all off so I just returned it. You can't touch the thing without getting your hand to turn silver. I don't think anyone would want that stuff in their food! I never got to actually try it. Cast iron rusts easily if not taken care of or sitting in a humid warehouse so most cast iron cookware is covered in a wax where you just have to put it in the oven for an hour and the wax drips off, I guess this company took the cover it in paint route, not a good idea. Plus, it says really big on the thing "Hecho en Mexico" (Made in Mexico). I have nothing against Mexico, I am Hispanic myself, but I know they do not have the manufacturing standards we have, so who knows what the paint is even made of.
