11 Piece Chef's Starter Knife Set with 12" Steel by DOLOMITEN INOX

Even before taking anything else into consideration, this has to be a 5* product based solely on the exceptional value for money. The knife roll, 12" steel and 12" slicer if bought individually would pretty much account for the £60 price tag, with everything else being an additional bonus. As far as the actual knives go, they remind me of the "house" knives in every commercial kitchen I have ever worked in - and this is no bad thing. The plastic handles that have been mentioned in a few of the reviews are easy to clean, can take a good amount of abuse and most importantly are not slippery when wet. True they don't look as impressive as riveted rosewood but they are a lot easier to look after and won't mind going through the dishwasher. The small knives (turning knife, paring knife, tomato knife) are wickedly sharp and easy to handle. The filleting knife, boning knife and chefs knife again hold a good edge but are the only knives in the set that don't have a taper across the full width of the blade. I was expecting that to make chopping more solid objects (eg. carrots / potatoes) considerably heavier going, but the knives are a decent weight / balance and actually very comfortable to use. For me the slicer and steel are still the real cream of the set though, and there's also a peeler which I don't really have much to say about. I don't think anyone chooses a knife set based on a peeler. The knife roll is solid enough to carry around and has space for a few more items (like a carving fork to go with the carving knife!). Delivery was ahead of schedule and packaging robust. Overall extremely happy with the purchase.

Set is great for the price but the quality is not there, all the knives have not been sharpened properly I struggled to cut an onion with the chef knife 1 side is razor sharp and the other side of the edge is blunt Only reason I'm giving this 3 stars is because of value for money Quality of the edge is a 1 star

My daughter has just started a career in catering and needed a starter set that wasn't too expensive (some are £500+) but would last and were good quality. We read several reviews before deciding on these and were impressed with the set when it came. The knives come in a large wallet that has room to increase the set and is made of a tough nylon that will not easily wear or be torn. The knives are sharp and of good weight but not too heavy, though weight may be personal preference I think. The handles are good non-slip plastic. These come with a 25 year guarantee and a good quality sharpener. Blades are firm and not bendy at all. My daughter is very pleased with her gift.

Very good quality knifes I only use them for cooking at home and love the quality will be looking in the near future to and to the range

The knives are great, they were a present for my boyfriends birthday and have just given them to him, but when he opened it at the weekend I noticed there are only 8 pieces and not 10! This is something I didn't expect after paying £70!

The parcel arrived very quickly and wrapped so well I had to find a knife to cut it open. This is a good point. Once opened I found the knifes inside a very nice canvas type bag with plenty of room to add more utensils. Now I am no Jammie Oliver but this set felt well balanced and strong. They arrived sharp and nicely individually wrapped. Looking now to purchase some more knives of this make to enlarge the set. Maybe a clever. Worth the money and highly recommended.

I don't know how these knives have had a good rating. The ones I received were blunt within half a day of using them in a professional kitchen when brand new knives are supposed to stay very sharp for at least a few days .

a perfect, professional set of knives for any aspiring chef who is looking to purchase their first set of knives. great value for money, was dispatched and delivered quickly and efficiently. the wrap that comes with looks very delicate and probably won't last long, however, the knives themselves were incredibly sharp. i would definitely reccommend!
