And the fact that as an ear thermometer, it doesn't require sanitary caps, but can just be swabbed with alcohol.This is really simple and easy to use and I am very happy with it.. now.The reason for the four star review is that I could not find in the manual anywhere how to get my thermometer to switch to Fahrenheit. It wasn't the fact that I couldn't do it, but I could not find anywhere online to find how! No customer support or FAQs... My son later found a quickstart guide in the box which displayed easy, clear instructions. So if you're more observant than I am, you'll probably have a 5 star experience. But I became very frustrated with the 2 button thermometer that was not an intuitive experience for the user.The plastic over the display screen has also scratched quite easily. Although I do have two boys that think everything is toy.All that being said, with the knowledge of how it works, I would buy again because I really love the versatile design of the probe. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ No mercury in my mouth (or ear or head...) *by B***P on April 11, 2018* One thing I can’t stand when I’m sick is holding a thermometer in my mouth! I’ve always appreciated docs who had head thermometers or ear thermometers to check. Plus, even with alcohol and plastic covers, I still don’t like the idea of sticking something in my mouth that some other sick people had in theirs...This combines both in one! It’s very easy to use and takes fast reading! It claims to measure the temp of a room too, and it actually does! 72 for my room right now. No wonder I’m so comfortable! That can be checked using the head or ear mode. It saves 20 of the last temp readings which is so convenient to recognize a pattern, or to show medical staff to document it. It even beeps rapidly if the temp goes higher than 99.5 F to indicate that there could be a fever. This would be a nice feature on oral thermometers instead of crossing my eyes to see if I can read it if it’s taking longer than I think it should to beep. It’s lightweight and takes basic AAA batteries, so they aren’t hard to replace. There are a number of nice features with this thermometer. You wouldn’t really think you’d need so many...I mean, you just want to make sure your brain isn’t frying up...right? Actually, these features are really useful, especially if you have a tendency to run fevers and want to keep track, want/need a fast reading, and don’t want to wait until you haven’t had anything to eat or drink for 15-30 mins. Why didn’t they have these as readily available when I was a kid? I was so afraid of glass breaking in my mouth, and when I needed to cough...sorry mom...I couldn’t help it!Note: remember that when taking a temp, normal is going to be a different number based on where you take it.
