In this story, we learn of how everyone's favorite muses came to be, and how they'd earned the right to be the proclaimers of heros 😊 I loved every bit of this story and just finished reading it 😆 i hope everyone who's a fan of Hercules will pick up this book. 😊

Solid read and entertaining for a middle grader. I was expecting it to be a little more engaging but it was still entertaining.

I recently purchased "Bemused" for my 14-year-old daughter, and I have to say, it has exceeded all my expectations! As a parent, finding a book that captures the attention of a teenager can be quite the challenge, but this enchanting story did just that.What I loved most about "Bemused" is its celebration of Black women. The Muses—Calliope, Clio, Melpomene, Terpsichore, and Thalia—are not just mythological figures; they are relatable, strong, and incredibly talented sisters who embody the spirit of sisterhood and resilience. The narrative unfolds as they navigate their way through trials that are not only epic in scale but also deeply personal, making their journey all the more compelling.The book brilliantly reveals the untold origin story of these characters from Disney's "Hercules" while adding fresh twists to Greek mythology. Rochon's writing is engaging, filled with adventure, humor, and heart. Each Muse has her own unique voice and talent, and I appreciated the way the story showcased the bonds of sisterhood amidst the chaos of their extraordinary lives.When their mother, revealed to be Mnemosyne, the Goddess of Memory, is kidnapped by Hades, the girls are thrust on a thrilling adventure filled with mythical challenges. Under Calli’s leadership, they rise from “zeroes” to “heroines,” demonstrating the power of unity and determination. This message resonated not just with me but my daughter as well, inspiring discussions about strength and sisterhood.Overall, "Bemused" is a fantastic read that seamlessly blends adventure, music, and mythology, making it a perfect addition to any young reader's collection. I highly recommend it to parents looking for books that celebrate diversity and empower young girls. Farrah Rochon has truly created a gem that I know my daughter will treasure!

If you like Hercules or anything Greek mythology related, you'll thoroughly enjoy this book. Easy read for children, young adults or true adults like myself that enjoy youthful books.

My first copy arrived damaged unfortunately -- but I knew this was the fault of Amazon's warehouse so I requested a replacement which came today. I inspected the replacement & it's perfect. I'm excited to read it this evening & will update my review regarding the story. If you are a Greek God fan especially about the muses the goddesses of the art, this book is for you!! It just gets you by the first chapter and you just don’t want to stop reading!

Bemused is a Disney origin story of the Muses from Hercules. I have found these stories to be hit or miss in the past, not living up to the charm of the movies they are based on, but this one was stronger than others. I liked the story of their goddess mother and the five daughters each with their unique gifts. I wish a little more time was spent on each one and I would love to know more about their future as well outside of just singing for Hercules.

This is one of those books that I will keep forever and share with my kids. It was so cute and interesting to hear their backstory of how they got to be where they are. I would have never thought they went through all they did, and I immediately went to watch Hercules after. Verrrrrry cute <3
