I've enjoyed fishing for most my of my life and in recent years I have found more enjoyment in using smaller lighter rods for targeting Bass with lures along the shore line. This Sougayilang MX-2 rod and reel combo is in my opinion reasonably priced and sufficiently well made for both fresh and salt water lure fishing.Having loaded the reel with monofilament line I am very happy with how well the level wind has distributed the line across the spool. The 6.5:1 gear ratio provides a reasonably good line retrieval and is smooth in operation due to the reel having multiple stainless steel bearings. There is a spool release lever at the rear of the reel which is depressed for casting and a star shaped drag adjuster beneath the handle. Bait-casting reels in my experience can take a bit of getting used to and a little perseverance with adjusting both the spool tension and magnetic brake to find the ideal set up may be required.The rod is very light and has a fabric two compartment sleeve included for storage. The handles are made from an EVA material and look very striking on the purple variant that I received. The rings are a mix of single leg toward the tip of the rod with a two leg ring on the butt section and the first ring on the tip section. It is made from 28T Carbon fibre which is very lightweight while providing a good amount of rigidity for its size. Attaching the reel is very easy and is done by unscrewing the upper part of the handle and tightening it once the foot of the reel is inserted into the seat for a secure fit.In use the rod and reel feel well balanced and providing that the lure being used is more than 7g some good casting distances can be achieved. The specification for the rod is a casting weight of 7-21g which covers a good variety of lures. I have found that lures of around 14g cast very well as they have sufficient weight to get the action of the rod working better than my lighter lures did. A maximum breaking strain of 12lbs is recommended in the listing in respect of line being used on the reel. I find that about right as the reel drag can be quickly adjusted when playing larger fish.In summary I think this is a very usable rod and reel set for the price which looks attractive while being practical to use. All of of the rings on the rod I received are neatly whipped with a durable resin coating and the two sections fit together nicely. Some care does need to be taken with carbon fibre rods as they will break easily if crushed or if they come into contact with a solid object when casting. They can also be conductive so probably best to avoid using one during a thunderstorm. With the addition of some line and a few lures which need to purchased separately I think this a great little spinning outfit which I will enjoy using much more when the warmer weather returns.

My son took this new rod out the day it arrived cast out reeled in and rod snapped and fell in sea either damaged in delivery or the worst rod ever made it didn’t look damaged tried to return can’t print label everi wouldn’t print label and Royal Mail said they can’t either taken reel of and attached to sons old rod waste of moneyBeyond dissapointed in product and Amazon service wish I’d just gone to shop waste of money they should refund this item son was so upset on his birthday can’t trust online purchases is my experience doesn’t deserve one star
