I crossed my fingers and bought several of them, the others are as gifts so remain unopened. I’m glad I did! The pages are of reasonable thickness for a Bible, some pages stick which is common for newly purchased Bibles in general. Just be aware and carefully separate them. The drawings have a hand drawn like appearance, which is charming. Some of the lined notation pages you can see the drawings from the next page, while others you can’t. Transparency wise you need about 3 pages between an artist drawing to not see outlines of it. I haven’t actually colored or written in it, but hopefully that gives you an idea. I would be inclined to use pencil and/or color pencil, some of you may know of other options that may work fairly well. Even though I think pen and ink may not be desirable, I’m super pleased with this Bible. It’s beautiful! The band is nice cause it keeps it closed and the pages from damage. It has a nice area on the side for note taking where there is no picture, and the pictures are all pretty fun! They might be good for helping with verse memorization cause your looking at it for a while coloring it. The book mark is good, but there is only one. Its a reasonable size.
