## Overview

The Garden Grape Fruit Vine is a hardy, self-fertile climbing shrub that produces large, delicious grapes, perfect for UK climates. Supplied in a 4.5-litre pot, it thrives in full sun with moderate watering, making it an ideal addition to any garden or allotment.

## Description

A prolific and early ripening red grape bred in Germany to add body to flavourless red wines. Grape 'Dornfelder' produces good sized, red-black grapes which ripen well in the UK in October and have one of the best flavours when used for desserts, or making wine and juice. This easy to maintain variety has medium vigour and good disease resistance. With their large leaves and good autumn colour, grape vines also make an attractive garden feature when trained over a pergola.Estimated time to cropping once planted: 2 years.Estimated time to best yields: 3 years.Choose a sunny position in any well drained soil. Before planting, prepare a framework of wires stretched horizontally between two sturdy 1.8m posts or attached to a warm wall. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant against the wire supports, allowing a distance of 2m between plants. After planting, reduce the newly planted vine back to the height of the lowest support wire, cut back any side shoots to one bud before tying the main stem to the supporting wires. Water only during dry periods as excessive watering can reduce the quality of the fruit. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the vines in spring to retain moisture at their roots throughout summer. Prune grape vines in winter and train them in summer. This beauty arrived promptly, made it all the way to Jersey in good condition. The plant is a generous size and although I was concerned about trying to get something like this to the channel islands in one piece, I will likely be ordering a few more. Good work Thopson & Morgan

The delivery date given was longer than some others but the vine plant arrived before time and in superb condition- again Hermes delivered and even offered to carry it to the back garden so thanks for picking a good delivery service and for a really lovely vine. It's having a good drink before we pop it in place and I am delighted. Highly recommend.

This grape was larger than i was expecting (nice!), and took just under a week to arrive. Plant has a good many leaves but some dont look so good, will give them a water and some rest after their journey and hopefully they will recover.
