Not sure why it has become so difficult to buy tubs of cream of tartar in the supermarkets - most shops only sell fiddly little sachets now which isn't much use when you are trying to measure out a few teaspoons such as for Nigella Lawson's scone recipe. I bought a 250g pack the first time and used it up easily well before the expiry date so went for the 500g pack the next time - perfect scones every time!

I combined this with Bicarbonate of Soda to convert plain flour to self-raising flour. There's no after taste as it helps the flour rise beautifully. I tested it by making a Victoria sponge which was just perfect! I'll definitely buy this again when I'm running out of it, and can certainly recommend it!

Perfect! I have to make a lot of play dough for my Reception class and buying Cream of Tartar in little pots from the supermarket was getting very expensive. Much better to be able to buy larger quantities and for a good price too!

A lot cheaper than anything you will find in the supermarket. I drink 1/2 a tsp daily to increase my Potassium intake (it's pure Potassium).
