Just set it up and seems to work great for our 1800gph display tanks!

What's bad: 1. Box was delivered crushed. The cardboard isn't nearly strong enough for shipping these filters. The filter seems to function ok though, miraculously.. 2. Filter is rated at 4000 gph, but I couldn't even get close to that. With my pond water about 3000gph was the best I could do, without the filter in a perpetual cleaning cycle. No idea where the 4000 came from. 3. This filter is pressure input, gravity output. You need to match the filter output fitting, so free flow output matches pressure input. Most importantly, the water output can never rise above the top of the output fitting. That means this filter must be physically above all output destination fittings in order to function correctly. 4. Input water quality greatly affects this filters performance. Leaves and twigs cause bad things to happen when they get inside the drum. Need to filter those out first. The cleaning cycles are supposed to wash the waste out the sewage port. But about 5 % of that waste, ends up splattered on the inside walls of the filter . This ends up right in the output water. So in my case, I still have to clean this filter monthly. This was not designed to be easy to clean!. 5. 200 line screen is equivalent to a 74 micron filter. This works wonders for clearing the pond water of flotsam. But fish slime passes right through. So you end up with fish goop all over the inside of the filter, which then gives rise to worms, bacteria, which all happily move into the filter. It's really got to be cleaned regularly to function correctly. 6. This is NOT fully automatic, set and forget. Did I mention you have to clean it too?!, and yes, it was not designed to be easy to clean. It's a pita in fact 7. You have to adjust the flow rates in and out to minimize washing cycles. For my setup, the washing cycles waste about 35 gallons of water each day. This means your plumbing needs to support flow rate limiting, and you'll need to have a way to constantly replenish the water for your fish as it's lost due to filter cleaning. 8. Maybe other brands would be easier to deal with, but this is the only one I've ever bought, so I have nothing to compare too. It works. 9. Comes with no warranty, zero, nothing. Cross your fingers. The good: 1. It actually works to clear the pond water. 2. The cleaning cycle is a pleasure to behold! 3. This thing dropped my labor from cleaning my filter sponges every 2 days, to cleaning a drum every 3 to 4 weeks. Saves me a lot of time. But it's not cheap, and it's not easy! 4. You get about 35 gallons of free fish fertilizer every day, so pair this with a big garden, and watch your plants grow! By the way, fish fertilizer stinks, so prepare yourself!

Wow. This thing is a workhorse. I’ve had it almost a year now. And my pond is definitely clearer than before I had it. It is ran on a 2400 gallon pond with two return barrels with plants in them. I just let the removed waste hit the ground.

Ok, A real review, not a Bot! I ordered 2 of the 8000 GPH "rate" ones with UV sterilizer. Got my first one, BUSTED and smashed.... my other one MIA. I returned the one I got because it was beyond fixing. Reordered and after some time got 2 that were better packed. I set them up without issue and the results are EXCELLENT!!! I use one on a Dwarf Caiman Pond (Crocodilians) and another on Large Alligator Snapping ponds. I use the drum filters to remove a fair bit of debris etc and also have Biological filtration included. I love how much material is caught by the drum and I backwash the drum screen back into the system but use a filter sock to separate the debris. This works well as there is no water loss and I can just change out my sock and save myself a fair bit of the hassle of clogging my Bio filters. Overall, I really like the products and have had for about 8 months and will buy more for other various needs. Worth the money in my eyes and I have a huge amount of experience with filtration, fish and animal management. I know when things suck and this is actually quite decent considering the price etc.. My pond has not cleared up one iota. The main problem I have had is that the self cleaner fires off too often so it drains my 16000 gallon 340 sf surface area pond by 2+ inches overnight if I leave it on. I have tinkered with the idea of disconnecting what appears to be a modular plug into the float valve so the automatic cleaning doesn't trigger and it only cleans when my timer dictates but I haven' t done that yet. It took a bit of "try it and see if it works" to get the flow right. Initially, the water level was going above the sewage drain so water was pretty much draining constantly. I got that sorted but the too often cleaning is still an issue. For now, I check it every few hours, run the cleaning cycle and then turn off the power until next time. I found a timer that has seconds, minutes, and hours so I may hook that up to run for 15 or 20 seconds every 4 hours or so. I don't have fish yet since I'm still trying to get things how I want them so I don't need to run it very often. The biggest problem with shutting it down is that I don't get the benefit of the UV light, which is only 20w so it's not that powerful anyway. I've ordered a 55w UV that I'm going to connect to one of my returns and see if that will control my algae. I've done the microbe lift, blah, blah, blah and it's not working this time although it did once before. Live and learn I guess!

I have this version for 6 months - working with my 8000 gal pond. I have pre filtration, then to be drum after pre filtration. This removed and cleared water significantly. Even though it’s not on a timer clean, the float switch only works great. When first installed cycle often need to watch water level. After 6 months not so much. Seller needs to band the drum down to protect from shipping damage!. Handlers will tip to ship and drum screen beat to death…lucky not punched thru.

I give it a 4 star for the build quality but it would be better not to put the pipes on because the shipping is rough and the spray bar pickup was broke but easy to fix once I get it hooked up I will review again

Cest une merveille plus besoin de rien nettoyer l'eau de mon bassin est limpide j ai acheter 2 machine 8000 et une avais le filet maille 200 briser le vendeur ma envoyer 2 filet mailles 200 pour faire la réparation merci tres beau vendeur avec un filtreur a tambou de qualité très heureux 😁
