like my forty year old Stihl 038 which is a complete monster that pulls a 32 inch chain
Update. Bar flaw accounting for chains wearing fastFound the bar that came with the now deceased unit had a bend possibly due to laminate flaws. The rise when laying down on side is 1/8inch bow starts aggressive at just over halfway to the tail. Waiting for customer service response. Only requested a replacement bar. Already have three chains.Had a substandard part irreparably damage the saw and turn it into a paper weight. At the end of the run in period.I am very Impressed with the customer service I received from neotech. A new power head was sent out immediately after I provided pictures of the flaw. Which I will not mention. Simply because of possible false claims from other people that weren't as satisfied. The new power head is half way through the run in period with a bigger inner dog as well as an outer dog when I equip it. The extra gap takes another half inch of the bar length, but definitely improved stability. It's cutting like the first.Following the printed included neotec instructions and running 35 to 1 mix for about seven tanks then going to forty to one for one gallon total to finally fifty to one.

It's a low priced BEAST!
For what it cost, I have zero complaints this far. It's a powerful saw, has a nice bar, and a sharp chain. Sure it's based on the older varieties of top notch saws and has so-so plastics, but it's a fraction of the price for those just removing a few storm fallen trees. That said, it is not a beginners saw.

A disaster
First thing wrong right out of the box was I received a 12" bar cover for a 24" bar. It came with a bunch of unnecessary junk like ear muffs, gloves and some other things I have no idea what they are. I'd rather that money be spent on a more quality product than junk. Putting it together was a bit of a pain because the manual didn't show how to put it together.I generally know the parts of a chainsaw and how they go together, but it would be difficult if you didn't know. Then I can't figure out how to start it because the manual nor the Amazon description showed the correct starting procedure for this chainsaw I received. It shows 4 gears to turn it on. Mine only has 3. I Couldn't figure out where the 4th gear is. I asked on Amazon and received a link to a Husqvarna that doesn't show the starting procedure. I emailed customer support because there's no number to call and have yet to receive a response. Also, the cover has a hole for the chain tension screw and the manual shows this, but the screw isn't there. It's on the other side of the bar. I later realized the 4th gear is automatic. It would take a lot of effort to get it on, several pulls. Then I was able to use it for about 5 minutes until it died. IF you can get it on it worked great. There was gas and oil in it. Thankfully, my husband is a mechanic and determined it wouldn't stay running because the carburetor kept flooding. He fixed it and then I could finally get it running with just a pull or two. Would I ever buy this again? Not a chance. Would I recommend this? No way. As difficult as it was, I'd rather spend more money for one that works out of the box.

Think of it as a professional quality saw "kit"
So this is an interesting product. For the price, it makes a great project, if you're already familiar with Stihl saws. I wouldn't recommend it for the average Joe. First of all it's way more saw than most people need. It's heavy, loud and it vibrates like crazy. It's very much a relic of 1980s chainsaw design without most of the modern comforts. So if you're looking for a low cost first saw for around-the-house work this is not what you want. But I'm amazed that they can deliver a quality clone of the 038 magnum for $300. This thing perfoms on par with saws in the $1500 range from the big guys. The piston and cylinder look very nice, the carb appears to be genuine walbro or is at least an exact copy down to the body castings. The steel and magnesium pieces are very high quality, the plastic bits not so much. The rear handle in particular feels very cheap. I had to do some sanding and smoothing on the handle and master control lever to get everything fit together and moving smoothly. The fuel filter, fuel line and impulse line probably won't last more than a year but OEM replacements are cheap and available. The spark plug boot came apart in my hand the first time I removed it, but it was easy to reattach the ht lead and reseat the boot. Saw started on the third pull and sounds great. The bar and chain are way nicer than I expected. We'll see how they hold up. Customer service is China based but responsive and helpful so far. It's a bargain if you know what you're buying and how to fix quality control issues.
