The water has to be replaced about 2x per week which seems quick but again, my cat is taking bird baths in it. Get the fountain. No fountain is a walk in the park, they all have to be cleaned regularly as your pet is dropping fur, litter, and probably a ton of backwash into the fountain, but this is so easy to maintain plus it functions as a cat toy. This fountain is much easier to clean because it doesn’t have a traditional pump system. It’s easy to use and sturdy—my cat can’t knock it over. My only request: Please make the basin out of aluminum instead of plastic. That would be more hygienic, eliminate microplastics, and keep the water cooler for longer.
