Id recommend
I am an intermediate designer and i love this book. I wanna say it is beginners friendly thought if you're new to some of the terminology it might be a little hard at times to follow but overall is a great resource to have

Very Insightful
I found this book to be almost like a textbook. It was very helpful in sewing theory as well as execution. I was able to understand why items are put together the way they are as well as how to do it. The language is very easy to understand and I would recommend this book to anyone with a basic knowledge of sewing in order to further their understanding.

Great book for new people wanting to learn but....
I'd like to start by saying that I've taken classes in pattern making and i've also done my fair share of research through books and online. I bought this book on pre-order willing to give it a shot. The book is very informative BUT the measurements are a huge issue. The book was published in the UK, so everything is given in Centimeters and CONVERTED to Inches. With that being said not all measurements in INCHES are accurate which can cause frustration or worse discouragement. I understand that when converting from Centimeters to inches they may have rounded up or down, staying consistant wasn't in their interest i guess. Do not be discouraged! Try to start using Centimeters or just be more aware of what is written in the book in inches and compare with the centimeters. This book is very informative non the less. I've learned a lot and still continue to do so. I love the illustrations they help a lot when im confused about something. I do recommend this book but if you get frustrated easily, like I did in the beginning, I dont recommend it. Also even though this is a "beginners" book you still need to have basic knowledge of how to measure the body properly, this is not discussed at all.

I am glad I got it!
I love the book!!! I was sold on the explanation of gravity and its impact on dress making as well as the very caring way in which Dennis explains concepts. You can’t miss understanding fit and the human body in relation to garments with this book.

Clearly Written and Full of Pattern Variations
This book has the clearest explanation on drafting patterns I have read. It is cleanly written and very concise, which makes getting through the material very easy. There are explanations on why things are done as they are, and there are examples of many ways of dealing with darts or design features. If you need to make a sloper, and if you sew, you probably would benefit from this custom fit, this is the book you should learn to draft from. If you want to design, this is the book you should learn from. This book is great if you want to acquire some good, solid technical skills.

Great book to understand the basics
This book is great for understanding the basic concepts of patternmaking. While most patternmaking books just tell you how to draft patterns, this book shows you why patterns are drafted that way and how the pattern shapes relates to the body. For people who are really interested in pattermaking, I would recommend getting this book first to understand the concepts of patternmaking (it mainly shows you how to draft basic patterns) and use other patternmaking books to learn techniques on drafting more complicated styles.
