I have a hubby with feet that are difficult to fit. These Merrill hiking boots are perfect for him. They give needed support while also having the softer sole his foot condition requires. They also are available in the wide width he needs. He already had this boot and wore it for 8 years. He’s hard on footwear so that’s amazing. Though his old pair is really in good enough shape to wear, they have some tears on the seam so we replaced them with the same make and style knowing he’ll be happy. He wore them on a hike, right out of the box, with no problems.

Warm durable and comfortable. They fit just like my other Merrell's except for the added height. Great for keeping light amounts of snow away from my socks. Warm, dry feet make for a good start to the day.

Nice shoes! I read some reviews that they ran small, but didn't really believe it. Well, I ordered my regular size 9 and had to return for a 9 1/2. I take reviews more to heart after this experience. Anyway, these shoes are awesome! Comfortable and really a nice looking shoe! I wanted a warm substantial shoe for spring, fall and winter and these are the ticket!! I Love them! And, yes they really do run small.

I really like these boots and own two pairs, this one and the tactical version. I don't know if people consider them stylish but I like the look. They're not fashion boots but it works for me. Two things to consider: They do run large. I said fits 'as expected' but that's only because I have experience with Merrells and had reviewed their sizing chart. If you compare to major sneaker companies like Nike or Adidas, I'd advise going a half size down or maybe even a full size. I wear an 11 in most Nike shoes and 10.5 wide in Merrell. I think I could wear a 10 wide they'd just be a little more snug but still with room in the toe. As someone with wide feet I really appreciate that they have wide sizing. The other thing is that if you're planning on wearing these for hiking then consider getting the non-waterproof version unless you really need waterproof, because even though these are relatively breathable, they're not as breathable as the ones without the waterproof membrane. If you do your hiking in the summer in hot and dry conditions, you'll want your feet to breathe. I can wear these for hours and feel fine, but if I didn't expect to hike in the rain, if I didn't expect to have to step through standing water, I'd opt for the non waterproof version because the breathability is going to be more important than waterproof quality if that isn't really needed. Side note: I really like the color dark earth and it might be my favorite of all the colors they offer.
