This spray is so much easier to apply, and the results are superb, it genuinely waterproofs the fabric of the shoe or boot. I've used it on some padded nylon boots, some suede boots, a pair of leather trainers and some mixed composition walking boots. All now tested out in snow and rain, with commendable results. I can't comment on how long an application lasts, but going by other reviewers I expect to need to reapply sometime in spring. A can does seem to contain a few applications though, so it's relatively economical over time. There was no apparent change in colour or staining across any of the footwear on application. It took between 30-45 minutes for the footwear to feel dry. Once waterproofed, water rolls off the footwear. It's impressive to watch!
