This book is marvelous, epic, operatic, poetic!

I received the book in excellent condition, and I doubt it was read before - it looks brand new. There was just one small scratch on the cover, and that’s it. The delivery was even faster than expected. I'm absolutely satisfied with my purchase.

A hauntingly brutal story where the currency of human obsession is exploited within an almost Shakespearean construction. The translation of the prose renders gorgeous, poetic passages that require second readings. Occasionally, my lack of understanding of the intricacies of Japanese society left me questioning motives of central characters, but this did not prevent me from thoroughly enjoying this fabulous, sumptuously distasteful, intriguing novel. Highly recommended. A Mishima convert!

arrived quickly, in good quality. was led to this by founder of butoh, tatsumi hijikata. have just finished Genet's A Thief's Journal and to be honest feel like my ability to lead a nice complacent life is being complicated by such literature.

I'm sure if you read this you'll need to read more. one book isn't enough when you read Mishima.

Not the easiest to read book. The female characters and their treatment and characterizations had me wincing a bit.
