Works great for audio applications
I needed this convertor to run a UK model Yamaha audio amplifier at American AC line levels. This works like a charm so far. There is no hum or other noise induced in the amplifier output and the amplifier works exactly as expected. Even using a turntable powered directly from the American power mains, there is no ground hum or other noise induced in the speakers. The unit runs very cool (amplifier pulls only about 45% of the rated load though). So far I am completely satisfied with the convertor - enough to delay my plans to replace the amplifier power transformer with an American version.

Very useful transformer for use with appliances from other countries
Bought a product from India and have been using this transformer for about 6 months. Works well and is built well.

Hums like crazy
Super loud 60hz hum when turned on. Therefore unusable with my European hifi-system. I ordered another one from a different company that has a metal housing, is 800 Watts, also doubles as a step-down converter, is way lighter, dead quiet and also cheaper! It was a no-brainer to return this thing.

This is EXCELLENT! My only critique is to say that I wish the outlet had a "twist-lock" feature to lock in the cord plugged in to it.

Good quality product
Having moved from the EU to the US, I needed several step up voltage converters for some of my devices to work. The UMI ones work very well: no noise, no smells, not a lot of heat. And they look good. The converter will create 2x 220V, 60Hz (not 50Hz) sockets.
