I don't see an easy way to ease the edges without chucking it up on a lathe. The weld bung is a little difficult to cut accurately, and it seems like it should have been reduced on that side so it could be internally welded. This is a very well-made cap and neck, just the right size to get a full-handed grip on. The neck and cap screw together very tightly and there is a synthetic o-ring for water-tightness. It appears to make a great seal and I think it would do just fine under high temp as well if your application required that. The only slight negative I have is there are some sharp-ish edges on the finger gripping surface, not enough to cut but slightly uncomfortable on bare hands without gloves. A bit of buffing and I got the edges smooth although this is possibly personal preference, it's not really necessary.
