Worth it

Infection prevention and control is a growing need as more people travel for work and play across the world. The CIC®️examination is the way to become certified as a professional in this branch of medical health care. The Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, (CBIC) is the recognized authority for testing and approving applicants. Successful candidates are encouraged to use the CIC®️as a registered trademark on their own names to signify their ownership of the credentials. While the exam is a great resume enhancement for professionals trained in medicine, nursing, public health, and laboratory technology, it can also be a great learning tool for homeschoolers interested in the topic and those eternal students that love to acquire scientific knowledge for their own sake.

I got these cards as a job aide for my role in infection surveillance and to share with my colleagues who are studying for the CIC exam. Each card is double-sided and the printing is easy on the eyes. The size of these flashcards make them easy to use and sort through quickly. An index of topics is included which is helpful. (Picture attached.) The cards are color coded by topic and 185 practice questions are included. Also inside the box are offers for additional study tips and access to videos as well as 50% off an online prep course. The cards for each topic are sequentially numbered and I have listed below how many are in each section. Unfortunately, my set was missing cards 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 from the green "Preventing and Controlling the Transmission of Infectious Agents" section. No table of contents was provided for me to determine the topics on those specific cards or whether I had all the other cards in each section. I only discovered this because they were out of order so I wouldn't know if any were missing at the end of a section. This review book covers the essentials on the topic, the tips for the board exam are very useful! I still review the book, you can use for the prep of the board of review a subject! It is always helpful to have a book like this. It helps you have a very clear view and understanding on what to expect from the board exam and how to get prepared!

Missing 1/3 of the required material. No microbiology included.

This is such a good set of test prep questions for infection control certification testing. Even for those who are certified these questions are a great teaching tool for teaching infection control principles and methods to various disciplines in a health care setting. Even Environmental Service Directors could benefit from the wealth of knowledge in these cards. I like that they not only give me the answer but explain why the other choices are wrong as well. A genius teaching tool that is well worth the low asking price.
