I purchased the awning last June, and the first time we used it, the post kept falling down, hitting my friend. It’s not safe at all. I reached out to the seller through Amazon, but I haven't received any response.

I have classic transverse Thule square bars on typical feet attached to the solid rails on my Outlander. This awning does not mount to transverse bars unless yours happens to have a slot for head of the mounting screws provided. Otherwise, you need to mate the L-brackets to the transverse bars somehow. I would have needed an extra parts kit of some sort to clamp them on, I can't find that kit on their amazone storefront. Effectively, this awning comes with the right hardware to mount to elevated longitudinal bars. Instead, I just drilled through the bars and mounted flush with the provided L brackets -- I don't have a sentimental attachment to my square-bars, but not everyone will be comfortable with this destructive mounting technique. Also, I hope I chose to put the holes in the right place, because I don't plan on drilling more. Otherwise, seems to be as-advertised.
