If you want to put this behind a firewall, block internet access (no cloud remote access) and control it with local only programming to eliminate snooping of how you use your devices - this is the way to go. This is all I'll buy going forward. It has some cool features to see power usage and I've only started to tap into the power. All the other remove power bricks need some kind of phone home. Not this one. A simple URL curl command will turn it on and off. Amazing!

Bought a Kasa tp-link plug with the plan to connect it to my laptop wifi and control it with Python. The Kasa plug has a closed app for phone installation only. Customer service was useless and they refused to open the app. I returned the Kasa plug. The Shelly PlugUS broadcasts its own wifi and has excellent wifi and access point configuration settings. The enclosed instruction sheet had all information required to connect to and configure the plug. I was able to configure and connect to the plug's wifi with the plug as an access point. Once connected, I was able to run Python programs to control the plug. Only downside is the wifi is relatively weak - can be used in another room from the laptop no problem, but can drop if the plug or the laptop is near any high emission source. This can be easily solved through positioning and I highly recommend this plug if you want to write your own logic (ON, OFF, Random, nested, situation or device specific, etc.) to control a device. Excellent build quality and good value for money.

Immediately after getting WIFI, I set up four of these Shelly Plus Plugs in my home. The setup was quick and simple. I set up a schedule for my basement dehumidifier to turn it off and on several times a day (to conserve power), and I can adjust the schedule occasionally to achieve an optimum balance of humidity versus power usage. I also set up several of my interior security lights to go on and off daily, and if my security camera detects an unexpected nighttime car in the driveway, I can turn on each of the lights in sequence, approaching the front door, while not actually having to walk to the lights to turn them on. I also have one for my Air conditioner so I can turn it on or off while I am away, so if it turns out to be an unexpectedly hot day, I can turn it on just before heading home. Likewise, if there is a storm and the house cools down quickly, I can just as easily turn it off. (I use a WIFI enabled thermometer/hygrometer to track the temperature and humidity both in the basement and on the main floor of the house. While having WIFI enabled cameras and thermometers are great for knowing what is happening in real-time, the Shelly Plus Plugs enable me to actually have control over events and the comfort of my home from anywhere! I am very happy with these so far!

I use Home Assistant, and most of my home is either Z-Wave or ZigBee. I don't really like Wifi based solutions, mainly because most of them MUST connect to a server outside my home to function. Not Shelly. They come local-first, opt-in to their cloud solution which is totally unnecessary for it to function. It's software stack is impressive with WiFi, cloud and Bluetooth as control options - current measuring and the ability to program built in automation (like scheduling or delayed activation after power is back) are excellent.

I previously had purchased a Shelly Plus 2PM and verified that the line voltage, current and energy reported via the API, web-socket and web page were within 3% of actual values. The results were quite impressive, so I decided to purchase the "Shelly Plus Plug US" (this device) anticipating similar performance. However using 60W incandescent light bulb (resistive) as the load, the API and web reported the line voltage at ~130V (actual on a meter was 118.6V). Also via the Shelly API, the line current was 0.547A (actual meter reading 0.480A). The API reported power was proportionally higher as well, 71W vs 57W actual. The first thing I did before running the above tests was to update the firmware on the device. That process turns out to be very simple via the devices own web page. From a previous review, I read that after the update you would need to reset it, but that was not necessary. While the ad indicates it has a temperature sensor, you can't actually use it to read ambient air temperature since the sensor is enclosed inside the unit. It reads the internal temperature of the device which for me was 116˚F. I believe that the Shelly Plus Plug US must be a 1st generation product, where the Plus 2PM is 2nd generation unit. However Shelly does not currently offer a 2nd generation plug. So would I purchase this again - Yes I would. Aside from readings that are too high which were disappointing, there are a number positives for why I like this product. 1) It has an extensive API library which allows you to manage, configure and use the device for home automation. 2) If you can't use the API, it has its own web page which essentially does all the main things you want. 3) You can set up Schedules and Timers on the device via the web page. For example, say you only wanted the device to turn off in 15 minutes or you wanted automatically turn it back on after 2-hours later or both, you can do this by setting a timer. With scheduling, you can set up specific turn-On and turn-off times for specific days of the week. Multiple schedules can be created. 4) The device uses WiFi instead of proprietary protocols like other devices. 5) It works well with Habitat. I easily added shelly devices to mine after installing the Shelly Plus Plus" driver. 6) A cloud account is not required to function on your home network. I did not sign up for an account nor download the android app to my phone. However if you need access to devices while away from home, you might need to consider a shelly cloud account unless you already have world access to your network via habitat, home assistant or some other home automation application. Overall the Shelly product line looks very good, especially their 2nd gen devices.

I purchased this device to measure the wattage consumption of my homelab. While I had an approximate idea of the overall power draw, I wanted to track peak usage and ensure the voltage remained stable "enough" for my equipment. This is an excellent "smart" alternative to a traditional Kill-a-Watt. It integrates seamlessly with Home Assistant and offers customizable settings for individual outlets. From what I can tell, it’s based on an ESP8266, and the firmware has received multiple updates—always a positive sign. The default Shelly App also retains a surprising amount of historical data, even if you choose not to link it to Home Assistant. Plus, it can be triggered and updated through Home Assistant, which adds a layer of flexibility. I appreciate how companies are embracing open-source principles—this device feels like a great example of that. It’s reliable, feature-rich, and easy to customize. Overall this are the best smart plugs on the market. Self hosted, integrate with home assistant perfectly, bluetooth relay, etc. However I have to dock some stars: 1. Because my second pack of these had a defective one. 2. Company will not provide any support unless you buy from them directly, even though I bought from their official store on here. Update: Dropping yet another star. Another one has failed just outside of the return window. That puts this product failure rate at 25% Quote from support: "However, this purchase is not direct with Shelly, so please, contact the reseller to replace the unit under warranty, as we are only managing orders made at the official web store at shelly.com."

Muy buena calidad, la pantalla de monitoreo es un poco simple, pero da todos los datos que se necesitan para saber el consumo de un equipo y saber si todo funciona bien. Yo en lo personal programé una interface que me permite mediante WiFi recibir alertas de temperatura y variaciones corriente peligrosas. Esa es otra maravilla tiene API abierta que permite personalizar.

Vale lo que cuesta tengo unos 20 enchufes inteligentes de todas las marcas y este es el mejor por mucho incluso funciona en la red local sin tener internet atravez de su propia página web local , si tienes un sistema indispensable en casa esta la mejor opción por mucho

Había comprado unas más económicas en Mercado Libre de otra marca pero vi estas de la marca Shelly y como ya tenía la aplicación de Shelly, no quise complicarme llenando mi celular con más aplicaciones, además, las Shelly es de 15 amperes y las otras son de 10 amperes, le quito una estrella por el precio, con el costo de 1 pieza de Shelly, compré 6 piezas de la otra marca.
