Bubble side down - flat side up to grip the floor. Upon opening you will notice an unpleasant odor and somewhat slimy tackiness. Recommend putting this outside to off gas for at least 12 hours before bringing it in. Slightly oversized so you can trim to fit. I recommend lining up two edges of your rug and overlapping pad by 1 inch and then trimming the other two edges down before readjusting to cover pad completely. This will give you a nice fit without having to constantly adjust to cover exposed padding.
