The seller MATTERS! Read seller reviews b4 buying
Its the beginning of the pool season for most of us so we're replacing our Taylor chemicals like good boys and girls, right? The rest of us are looking at the 2 oz bottle because we either test to MUCH or too LITTLE and we certainly dont have a green pool requiring a SLAM and are testing every 2 hours while dumping... a 'hypothetically at this point' 13th case of liquid chlorine into our 30,000 gallon pool and ran out right at the end... So yeah, the seller matters so check the additional details when you buy. This is the second time Ive used SRD and each time the bottle arrives with a fresh (Taylor only gives a year out for EXP dates) bottle. No sketchy label overlays like some of the other reviews have had when I deal with them. So yeah, if you need to use a LOT of R-0871 for checking high Chlorine levels, this is what you want and need. For ease of use and storage in the big blue box, I refill the 0.75 oz bottle that fits inside with this 2 oz bottle and then store the 2 oz bottle in the main house while the test kit stays in the pool house. One 2oz bottle will last an entire container of powder if you're wondering on the ratios which gives you about 3 refills of the .75oz bottles of you have your CYA levels between 30-35 for the SLAM testing. This is the best replacement value Ive found and certainly the best seller.

FAS-DPD titrating reagent.
If you're looking at this product it's more than likely you need replacement reagent for your Taylor chlorine test kit. Not much you can write in review as to the quality of the product. I find the Taylor FAS-DPD chlorine test to be the most accurate of all the lower level price point chlorine tests. I have found the test strips to right up there with useless other than a simple indicator of chlorine being present, but that's it. I find lower level colorimeters such as the AquaChek to be completely undependable if you're concerned about consistent accuracy. I haven't tried the Hanna Cl colorimeter, so I can't speak to that product. From here, the price soars in price to the $300 plus dollar Cl testers. And heck yes, if you have the extra green to buy the more expensive Cl testers, do. But if you're a retired budget minded shopper like I am, the FAS-DPD chlorine test kits hit the middle ground nicely. A note to help make this product more cost efficient. The dropper tops of the 0.75oz bottle and the 2.0oz bottle are easily removed and are interchangeable. This allows for either of the bottles, after rinsing with distilled water, to easily be refilled. Taylor has larger 16oz bottles (R-0871-E) you can buy on Amazon. If once a year you buy a 16oz bottle to refill your kit bottle with, for the delivered price of a 16oz bottle, you'll save a huge amount over buying separate replacement bottles and never have to worry about running out during the pool/spa season. Once a year put in an order for a 16oz bottle and your titrating reagent will always be fresh as they have about a one years shelf life. A second note, since this product is not available for Prime, two-day delivery, make sure you get your order in, in plenty of time so you don't run out. I didn't and ended up having to wait nine days before I could again properly test the spa water for chlorine. Hope the above helps.

It's the Best Way
to keep your pool water in good condition. Regular testing lets me keep our pool water balanced and in good shape, minimizing algae problems, too. I keep a record of all the test results and what I add to the water, as well as the water temperature at time of testing. It has proven a handy resource to check back to.

Larger bottle
It's exactly what I need a larger bottle than the typical small bottles that come with the taylor test kits this will last me quite a while a great value for what I needed.

Useful
Makes more sense to replace kit items with a bigger size. Works as intended ๐

Needed for pool maintenance
The only way you should measure your pool chlorine is with this and the R-0870 powder. Very precise and no need to go by the pool store to get the values (if they are even trustworthy, which I doubt unless they are using the same process)

Expiration date concerns
This is my third attempt buying this product. The previous two had expiration dates 5 months from the purchase date. I was not going to purchase it again on Amazon as so many recent reviews sited the same problem. I went to Leslie's Pool Supply and they had no idea of this specific reagent. Since I was getting dangerously close to running out, I purchased another bottle from Amazon โ fully expecting to get the same expiration date, and tossing out at least 1/2 the product after 5 months. I was pleasantly surprised that this new bottle had an expiration date of 9 months. Not perfect for a 2oz product, but better than 5 months.
