Perfectly Refreshing & Very Moorish!
We like to try different gins (flavoured, non-flavoured, coloured, etc) so this was an ideal opportunity to review this Whitley Neill Japanese Yuzu & White Strawberry gin.I mistakenly thought that the gin would be coloured (if I would have paid more attention to the internet product page, I would have known it wasn't...). On opening the bottle and sniffing the gin, you get the fruity smell, which is pleasant enough, and when tasting it without a mixer, you get the fruity strawberry aftertaste. We mixed it as per the suggestion with a plain premium tonic and added a piece of lemon - that's where the magic happens - smooth and fruity, but not artificially so - very moorish! We might try it with different mixers, but sometimes simplicity is perfection.Highly recommended.

Made For Ice Cream Soda
Grab a bottle of this, get yourself some ice cream soda, a leaf of fresh mint and just head out into the sun and enjoy it. I wasn't sure what to add to this gin as a mixer so seeing it was strawberry I opted for ice cream soda. Soooooo refreshing. Alcohol infused, gin and strawberry flavoured ice cream then explodes all over your taste buds. The sun shining its little heart out just added to the experience. Deffo a hot summer's drink. My first taste kinda threw me, I tasted the gin. If course I would it is gin but sometimes with flavoured spirits you can't taste the spirit. You can with this one . You also taste the strawberry and the citrus when you swallow as your back of your throat battles with the sun to see which one gives you the better glow. Gin wins! It comes in a bit stronger than your usual spirts by a percentage or two, just giving it the edge needed whilst you burn to a crisp in the only sunny day of the year. Worth the sacrifice people.A bit dearer than normal gin can be but gin making is an art and these people are artisans. Grab A bottle, get the ice cream soda, raid next door's garden for a mint leaf and head off into the sunset, seeking serenity! My faith has been restored in humanity, or that may be the gin. Either way, just now, I'm serene as.....

Great and strong citrus flavour
This is absolutely delicious. I've only had this with a plain tonic as the mixer and the flavour is so strong and delicious. No need for additional lemon.Bottle looks beautiful and would make a lovely gift for any gin lover. This is a step above the average and for the price is one of the most fantastic I've had. Can't fault it.

It won't be for everyone, but I was a fan!
Gin has been a staple of our drinks cupboard over the last few years and we've always tried to branch out and try different flavours to see how they fair against more traditional gins. This was a winner in our house. It's definitely a sweeter taste that other gins. The combination of the sweet and sour from the strawberry and yuzu make for a great combination. It does have a fairly sweet smell that I likened to sugary, boiled sweets but this won't be for everyone.I did find this a little sweet drinking without any tonic water but the sweetness of the drink is lessened when mixed with tonic making it much more subtle and less over poweringThis sweet gin won't be for everyone, but it smashed it out of the park for me.

It tastes really refreshing
We like to try out different flavoured gins, so when this come up I had to get it to try, and we weren't disappointed with it. The bottle comes in a pretty shade of pink, and goes nicely with the other coloured gin bottles we have. It has a really refreshing taste when mixed with a soda water, I initially got a bit of the strawberry taste but then the tart taste of the citrus came along and Wow ! it certainly made me open my eyes that I'd closed when I took the first sip.It is one that has split the camp with friends who've tried it, some love it, whilst others thought it was too bitter for them. At £23.00 at the time of writing this review, it is a little bit more expensive than I usually pay, I'm sure it is cheaper from the supermarket, but it is one to definitely try.

Not for me
I was intrigued by the yuzu and white strawberry flavour, but I wasn't a fan of the smell or taste of this gin. It's hard to place what it is, but it seems more on the passionfruit kind of side of things maybe, and made me feel a bit sick. Taste is subjective though, so you may like it!

Smooth after dinner drink
I've said this is smooth as and after dinner drink (neat) which leaves a very pleasant strawberry taste in your mouth. Very suitable after dinner...However, there is nothing to stop you having it as a light lunchtime sparkler (or alcoholic afternoon tea) mixed with soda or tonic water. As a concept, it just works as an unusual option to all the usual suspects.

Delicious, fruity
I love me a Scottish Whisky and I can tell the difference between a lowland, a Speyside or an island, but I've always found gins to be much of a muchness. Honestly, I've found that the mixer makes much more of a difference to the gin…Imagine my surprise, then, when confronted with a gin that has *presence*! This Japanese gin knocks my socks off - ok, there's the obvious strawberry flavour (which is pronounced) but I can now tell the difference between this gin and tonic * A, and a different gin and tonic *A.It really is lovely - I knew that the Japanese could make decent whisky but it's a revelation that they can also make great gin!
