A: Devices with electric motors require a deep cycle battery that can be regularly drained of it's charge and then recharged.  Starter batteries by contrast are designed to deliver short high current bursts to get an internal combustion engine running.  Starter batteries are designed to use very little of their capacity at a time and need to be kept above 75% charge.  These batteries while better and lighter than lead acid starter batteries are not deep cycle and should not be used for electric golf carts, trolling motors, electric skateboards, or electric bicycles.
