Review: Good, Easy and Economic scanner for slides - I've got this Zonoz to scan some thousands of family transparency slides, some of them having more than 50 years old. This device is a good compact surprise, it arrived before than stated and in no time I was able to start doing the work. The resolution is good, digital colors match well the film one, Even though the transparency media leaves you with a lot of post work to digitally match real life colors specially for skin tone and some very bright ekta/koda chrome colors like red and green. The scanner helps you to do a quick work on scanning and storing in the SD card, then you can edit in the PC, I haven't used the edit capabilities built in the scanner. One low feature is the format, it uses JPG as image storage default, I will prefer for this project to have PNG or RAW files to not use a info loss format from the beginning, but again, if you have a lot of pictures and want to do it fast and good ( not perfect) this is a good choice. Then you can select the very important slides and scan again with a more professional grade scanner as EPSON or other. The size is compact and easy to use, the adaptor matches well any slide thickness I've tried, but the screen should be placed at eyes level to work well, the LCD doesn't have an angle so you can't have a good view in a lower eye level, this is something to improve in the device design. The casing, buttons and controls are a little retro but works fine for me, the scan - insert -scan process for continous slides is a two button operation that could be improved as a 1 click one, but a box of 25 slides once you catch the use of the interface and the mechanics should take 5 minutes. I've uploaded some pictures, resolution and colors are good, consider these comes from a Ektachrome film taken more than 60 years ago. We wanted to have the slides transferred to photos, but weren't sure which ones to have printed. There were over 2,000 slides so the cost to send them off to another company would be astrological. I was able to transfer all of the slides to a SD card and surprise my husband for Christmas. This way he gets to pick out the slides he wants to have printed/enlarged and he also get to see all of the slides.
