Read the product specs about external power...
The hub worked great and all while I was using it without external power. Very convenient for a Surface Pro, allowing me to use wired ethernet and still use some USB 3.0 ports for mice, keyboards, etc. The hub does have a power port for 5V 2A power. Be warned though, DO NOT plug in anything over 5V 2A into that port... My idiot self decided to plug a more powerful one into it and, suddenly the hub ceased to function and had a weird burning plastic smell to it, and no longer functioned. Doh! Well that one was my fault. At least none of the USB devices that were plugged into it at the time suffered any damage. The only reason I'm docking it a star is because for some reason no ethernet cable I used would snap into the port. They would connect and function, but would easily fall out with the slightest bump. It did this for every RJ45-terminated cable I tried, from multiple manufacturers. I'll likely be buying UGREEN's updated version, with USB-C power, to replace it, but this hub did serve me very well before I fried it out of an act of ignorance.

4k max fire stick user
I just bought one of these the other day for my fire stick I noticed no buffering and it's fast one tip you can use this on a WiFi extender as well so you can hook it up in your room for a adapter WiFi extender and the Ethernet cable it going to cost at least 60 or 70 all together but it definitely worth it I noticed a big difference of course you don't have to buy it all at once either and if you notice you are only getting 50 gbs or more or little less than your original Internet speed don't throw it away it's going to work better it's basically pulling all that speed you are getting from your wifi extender or router and putting in your fire stick at once God Bless Everyone In Jesus Name Amen

Faster speed
Love the adapter. I had to get a new laptop and didn't realize that it only had wireless connectivity and no ethernet port. Internet speed was slow because that's the nature of wireless. No setup needed. Plug and play. Went from 10 Meg download to 500 Meg. Use SS USB port. Plus has 3 USB ports on this adapter. Did not get hot at all. Highly recommend 👌

no drama, perfect function
UGREEN came through again, I continue to really like the products that UGREEN delivers. This Gigabit USB3 adapter worked out of the box, with ZERO setup. 1) plugged it in to the PC 2) connected the ethernet cable. 3) browsed the web and viewed local LAN shares NO PROBLEMS whatsoever. After checking out the device properties i verified it was indeed connecting a 1 Gbit and the active settings were all reasonable. I really like that all of the drivers were native windows WHQL certified and nothing needed to be installed. The unit was slightly warm (if it was coffee it wouldn't be warm enough). ----- technical mumbo jumbo TL DR; follows.... The chipset inside the unit provides the nifty operations you want from a modern internet adapter. checksum offload, large send offload, jumbo packets, priority & VLAN, energy conservation, automatic cable length detection, wake on lan, wake on link, wake on pattern, wake on magic packet, ARP offload, NS offload. (i tested none of this, im just noting that the chipset offers it and the windows 10 drivers support it) There is a mini CD that contains drivers for windows versions < 10. including mac and linux. The linux drivers include source code. The manufacturers web site was very open about certification and compliance and even provide gerbers and schematics for embedded applications that want to use the chipset,

Plug-and-play Ethernet + extra USB ports (works great)
Super easy to use—plugged it in and it worked right away. I mainly bought it for the Ethernet port and it instantly gave me a faster, more stable connection than Wi-Fi. The extra USB 3.0 ports are a nice bonus for a mouse/keyboard/flash drive. Build feels solid, the cable is a good length, and it’s compact enough to toss in a bag. Just a heads-up: if you plug in multiple power-hungry devices at the same time (like an external drive), it may be better to use a powered hub. For normal everyday use, it’s been reliable and definitely worth it.
