Winter in Montreal Barbie Doll City Seasons 1999 Winter Collection

I am contemplating about returning this Montreal doll of the Barbie City Collections series, due to its "plastic" hair. I'm shocked! I have had the entire collection series since the late 90s, with the exception of the Montreal, which would complete the entire series. The doll and her style of clothing is absolutely chic! I love it! But I am being turned off because of the stiff plastic hair. I can't figure out if her hair is plastic or did the manufacturer heavily coated her hair for the look! Although, my Winter New York Barbie has the same hair style but in blonde and her hair is nice and soft, just like the rest of the collection series. Ugh! I am a bit disappointed. Else, I would have given the Montreal doll a 5-star rating. I have a few more weeks to mull over it.

This was one of the new faces of Barbie. They state on the box that she is for the adult collector, and I can see why. The serene sophicated look on her face would not appeal to a younger owner, just like I now care less for the cartoonish look of the Barbies from the Eighties and early Nineties. A younger owner would have those clothes off in a minute( my two neices are masters at disrobing Fashion Dolls in about 2 minutes). A younger owner would have been mad that there is not hair long enough to play "Beauty shop". There are some thing that are not meant for children! The funny thing is, if I had recieved this doll at the age of 10, I would not have valued her as much either. At a teen age, she would have been a new favorite because I became more intrested in vogue- type fashion, and her brunette good looks would have appealed to me. I Collect all types of Barbies, but a strong selling point to me is a doll that looks a little exotic. Dark hair, or red-head, beautiful outfit, and real lashes. When I see a Barbie with these atributes, I have a hard time passing them by. This one is sporting fur and hosiery! She dressed better than I.

This Barbie has molded plastic hair. I couldn't believe it when I took her hat off. I bought her to go with some other Barbies that I put out with different outfits every week, not as a collector doll. When I took her outfit off, the jacket sides are sewn to the skirt and the back collar is sewn to the jacket. These had to be very carefully snipped off to avoid wholes. Upon getting the clothes off, the jacket was totally out of shape and had to be carefully pressed with a press cloth to get it's shape back.. These items are not disclosed on the product sale page as of this writing. Thank goodness the seller was wonderful and Amazon stands behind it's products. I did get an immediate refund.
