Conntek 60839-00 14-50R Assembly Connector, Black

I bought a 50-amp cable to plug my generator into my house, where an electrician installed an isolator switch and receptacle (pictured) but my cable plug end was not deep enough. So I had to cut off the end of the cable (pictured) and replace it with this plug. This plug snugs a collar down around the cable, and fits the 1/4 inch diameter copper conductors that were inside of the cable very securely without nicking the conductor (I know, because I forgot to thread the plug sheath onto the cable and had to unscrew and reconnect the conductors--you will do this also if you are not careful.) The collar snugs down on the cable jacket for a watertight and secure connection. I used it with a 7500 running watt/9500 starting watt portable generator, big enough to run my whole-house air conditioner (house larger than 2,000 square feet). Everything else had to be switched off when the compressor kicked on, but after it started I could still power about 75% of the circuits on my house while the A/C was running on high, though this cable connector.UPDATE: February 15, 2021, a cold wave hit Texas, power has been down since 2 AM today and it is 5 degrees outside. I am running on generator power now, this plug is handling my whole house (with gas heat). The only circuits I have turned off are the electric dryer, dishwasher, and microwave, and this plug is powering everything else.

Very well made. Used for a portable pool heater. Carries the current without getting hot.

good plug for a replacement or for making extension cord

I had bought an import set of 14-50 plug & connector to build a heavy duty extension cord but they were way too sketchy to use with high current,I returned them and got these instead. I have no concerns about this connector, it is built like they all should be.

The cable grip is a collet and a nut, very convenient and workable design.

No UL stamp that I can find. The male end fits very tight and is hard to unplug... Yes, that can be a good thing but it can be dangerous being so tight you're tempted to pry it apart with a metal tool...

Not quite a good of quality as Hubbell but so far good enough for hooking up my RV to my house. I used 6/4 SOOW cable and it should last for years.
