Excellent device - converts eArc to analog audio
This is what you need if you want to output audio from the eARC HDMI socket on your TV into a hi-fi amp.Worked perfectly without me having to adjust any setting or anything on my new TV. I finally upgraded from my old TV to a new Smart TV (Samsung UE50DU7100 (2024) LED HDR 4K Ultra HD Smart TV, 50 inch). But the TV manufacturers in their wisdom have now removed all audio outputs including optical out and the only option available is HDMI eArc which is fine if you have the latest soundbar but no use for attaching to an old skool hi-fi amp which is what I use. This gadget is a DAC which converts the audio and outputs via RCA plugs (and also Optical and HDMI by the look of it but I haven’t tried those yet).If you are shopping for something like this then be aware that there are three things on the market… 1) an earc audio extractor which I mistakenly bought and which is for converting a non-eArc device into an earc capable one, or for attaching additional devices (Xbox, DVD player) to your new TV. That device does not work to extract audio to a hifi / AV amp! 2) an ARC to audio converter. This might work with eARC but it is not guaranteed to work and there are some compatibility problems. 3) an eARC to audio converter such as this - it’s the only one I could find that specifically states it works with an eARC HDMI output from the TV. And I can confirm it does work very well. I’ve written all the above to try and spare others the hours of research and ordering the wrong thing that I had to go through! The sound is really clear and it also allows me to control the volume using the TV remote rather than having to use my separate hifi amp remote. I had temporarily attached my TV to the amp with a Bluetooth receiver but the sound with this device is much better quality. This device is powered by 5 volts DC. Annoyingly it doesn’t come with a power plug - just a USB cable which you can either plug into a phone charger block, or as I have done plug into the TV itself.

Converts earc and arc to analog
As others have said, this is exactly what you need if you have a newer tv with only earc or arc HDMI audio output and you want to use an existing sound system without these connections. Works perfectly to connect my new Samsung TV to my amp with 3.5 headphone jack input. In my case I had to select PCM as the digital audio output and have HDMI eArc mode on “auto” in sound/expert settings before it would work.Wouldn’t be any need for it if only TV manufacturers would put an analog output in new TVs but that would be too easy wouldn’t it.But I digress. This thing saved the day

Ideal for my New Monitor to get the Audio out through eARC.
If you are looking at a way to get Audio out from a Alienware 32 Inch AW3225QF, this is the ideal way. Just pop it into the eARC HDMI port of the monitor and your sound will be passed through the device to your speakers/sounbar etc. This was an excellent way for me to be able to have my Xbox X connected to HDMI and my PC to the Display Port. Works fantastic.
